The "normal" industry carefully balances these ideas and constraints. But sometimes, we have a break from the "normal." I must update this list at some point to reflect the "Modernist" world; some rules may remain. That modernist view is more confusing with many different options. This means we don't just implement the same thing with more advanced tools. We start implementing entirely new concepts. According to the Register, enterprises aren’t ready for the energy demands of AI models. 72% of corporate leaders say they’re aware of the issue but only 13% are monitoring the power consumption of the AI systems they’ve deployed. We know a new compute paradigm is inevitable - and we’re heads down building it! Using Reversible Computing to recycling the energy dissipated by chips could transform both performance and energy consumption.

At last! It’s a welcome step to see Reversible Computing acknowledged in an analysis of how the United States stays competitive on AI and emerging tech. The Special Competitive Studies Project - SCSP’s latest report for the incoming Trump administration identifies Reversible Computing as being among the “post-Moore’s Law chip technologies…that could unlock significant gains in performance and power consumption”. It warns frontier breakthroughs can take 10 years - unless the United States or China step up to accelerate the timeline. Remaining the leader in compute is so clearly in the US national interest, I hope policymakers pay close attention to the opportunity. Thanks Brady Helwig, Paul J.
