We’re excited to share that Veri Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 7CO2: The Severnside Carbon Capture and Shipping Hub to explore transporting CO2 from the Avonmouth Cluster to our carbon storage project at the Sullom Voe Terminal in the Shetland Islands. This partnership leverages Veri’s infrastructure including the existing deepwater port and pipeline at Sullom Voe Terminal to transport CO2 to our licenced offshore storage reservoirs. Gavin Templeton, CEO of Veri, said: “We look forward to working with 7CO2 to provide an alternative competitive merchant Non-Pipeline Transportation (‘NPT’) solution to 7CO2’s existing plans to be part of a DESNZ Track 2 Carbon Capture cluster. This partnership has the potential to help streamline and reduce full cycle carbon capture costs, bring resilience to 7CO2 and its emitter partners and provide an optimum “Value for Money” carbon capture and storage solution. Together, we aim to deliver a cost-effective, resilient solution for carbon capture and storage, supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon future. We were pleased to speak this week at the OEUK Conference 2024, sharing our industrial decarbonisation plans, focusing on infrastructure repurposing and leveraging the talent within our business. In discussion with fellow panelists Enrique Cornejo, Vicky Dawe (Director of Energy Development and Resilience, DESNZ), Chris Johnson, and Les Newman, we highlighted the crucial role oil and gas companies play in achieving the UK's net zero goals. Last week the Veri Energy team hosted members of the Shetland Islands Council and Centre for Energy Policy at the University of Strathclyde at the Sullom Voe Terminal for a group site visit, brainstorming sessions and presentations about our projects aimed at transforming SVT into a new energy hub. We spoke about our plans to repurpose areas of the terminal to develop a portfolio of industrial decarbonisation projects including carbon storage, onshore wind and hydrogen and derivative fuels. Our goal is to maximize value for stakeholders by transforming the terminal’s extensive existing infrastructure to deliver this portfolio in support of the UK’s Net Zero commitments.
