We're a winner! A 2024 Skift Idea Awards winner! Visit Philadelphia won in the CREATIVE THINKERS Category: Marketing for our “In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union” campaign. The SKIFT Idea Awards are the travel industry’s most coveted prize, recognizing excellence in design, creativity and innovation. Our entry was among a select group of 23 projects hand-picked from a list of nearly 350 submissions from around the world. Fellow Idea Award winners this year include global brands like Southwest Airlines, Radisson Hotel Group and Sandals Resorts International. Our winning campaign showcases Philadelphia as the premier welcoming and inclusive destination in the U.S. in a way that only the birthplace of the nation can. The campaign was designed to offer a fresh take on Philadelphia’s commemoration of history and heritage months, including Black History Month, Asian American Heritage Month, Pride, Hispanic Heritage Month and more. This award wouldn't be possible without the tireless efforts of the entire integrated marketing team. Cheers to each member of the Visit Philly staff and our external partners who helped bring this initiative to life. #visitphilly #skiftideaawards #travel

Visit Philadelphia’s Chief Marketing Officer Neil Frauenglass recently joined tourism experts from Brand South Africa and Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), among others, on the “Building a Values-Based Place Brand Strategy for a Changing World" panel at the City Nation Place Global conference. The discussion offered valuable insights on creating meaningful place brand strategies in today’s dynamic landscape in a way that reflects the values of a destination. #placebranding #visitphilly #citybranding
With Donald Trump confirmed as the new President of the United States of America, the geopolitical landscape is in flux. We were honoured to hear from Lord Kim Darroch KCMG, Former British Ambassador to the USA and Former Security Advisor to David Cameron, at #CNPGlobal24 to understand what Trump’s next moves might be, what that means for international relations, and how nation brand teams can respond. If Trump stays true to his campaign policies, we’ll likely see the US withdraw from the Paris Climate Change Agreements, a rise in tariffs on imports to the US, and potentially the USA withdrawing aid from Ukraine. We need a concerted, collaborative effort to try to sway Trump from these policies, but also to understand how – or if – we can step into fill these gaps. As we redefine international relations, values should be at the heart of your strategy – they are the foundations on which diplomacy is based. Which led us nicely to our first panel of the conference, where we sat down with Christian Biller, Svenska institutet, Neil Frauenglass, Visit Philadelphia, Nouf Mohamed Al-Bushlaibi, Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and Sithembile Ntombela maNdaba, Brand South Africa, to understand how you can build a values-based place brand strategy for a changing world. When you go after hearts and minds, it’s your values that will really reach people, not your assets. But brands evolve, and it’s essential to continue going back to your citizens to ensure your brand values still resonate with your population. More than that, you also have to ensure that your brand promise permeates throughout your policies; place brand teams need to be mature enough to have the tough conversations and ensure that brand is at the top table for decision-making. After all, values aren’t something you say – they’re something that you perform. https://lnkd.in/d8S2JKZ #placebranding #nationbranding #citybranding
