Together with EDP Renewables North America, we’re excited to announce that Microsoft has agreed to purchase #electricity and #RECs for fifteen years from the 110MWac Hickory Solar Park project near Jerseyville, Illinois. Volt Energy Utility Founder and CEO Gilbert Campbell shared bold ideas at The Philadelphia Citizen’s #IWSSFest presented by Comcast NBCUniversal. The talk was focused on ensuring green jobs include Black talent, how Volt is building a diverse talent pipeline in clean energy and advancing diversity in clean energy, and emphasized these key points: ✅ Environmental Justice: Showcased the Environmental Justice Power Purchase Agreement (#EJPPA), integrating equity into renewable energy for underserved communities. ✅ Redlining: Examined the long-term impacts of 1930s redlining on urban neighborhoods and environmental disparities. ✅ Community Investments: Highlighted the Sharing the Power Foundation’s grants support organizations like GoodrCo., founded by Jasmine Crowe-Houston. Sharing the Power Foundation's HBCU Clean Energy and Environmental Justice Fellowship provides students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities with internships and scholarships in clean energy and environmental justice. ✅ Combatting Climate Change: Urged equitable access to the benefits of environmental investments, calling for collective action to combat climate change. #EnvironmentalJustice #CleanEnergy #HBCUFellowship #EmpoweringCommunities

I’m excited to share my recent conversation with the CEO of the world's 4th largest renewable energy producer, EDP Renewables North America! I spoke with Sandhya Ganapathy from the WRISE Leadership Forum in D.C. about EDPR NA’s partnerships with Microsoft & Volt Energy Utility, including their innovative Environmental Justice PPA. We also spoke about EDPR NA’s agreement with Google to develop & install 80 distributed solar projects - the largest distributed generation sponsorship signed between two companies in the U.S. at the time. Sandhya also shared her insights on the role that AI will play in the energy transition, EDPR NA’s ambitious "Close the Loop" recycling initiative that aims for a 90% waste recovery rate by 2030, & DEIJ-focused initiatives at the company.
