Directing a film requires vision and space for creative freedom. You guide an army of artists to create the scenes you see in your head, yet the best moments sometimes come from what you didn’t plan. The key during all of this is trust: trusting in your crew, cast, and the story. Some of the most powerful scenes happened when preparation met spontaneity, like when Leonardo DiCaprio (who played both King Louis and Philippe) brought layers of fear and arrogance into something as simple as a glance. A director needs to control what's going on, but not too much. There needs to be wiggle-room for creative freedom both in front of and behind the camera. If there isn't, then a film can feel rigid, choked, and perhaps even bland. So create that space for your crew to work within, and let the story be felt the right way. #Directing #Film #ManintheIronMask

A little #flashback to when the doors opened for the #BelmontUniversity performance of Living the Braveheart Life. What a time we had! As many of you know, a kind of magic comes with a live show. The audience and the performer create an unspoken bond, and both engage in a performance that will never quite be the same as the show that comes before or after it. Live music and storytelling bring with them genuine honesty that connects those on stage to those in the crowd. This is exactly what I wanted to do when I turned Living the Braveheart Life from a book to a live show. And the show goes on! Tickets are still on sale at https://lnkd.in/eeZC4dKe. It's an unforgettable experience. You won't want to miss it! #LivingtheBraveheartLife #LiveShow #Tour #RandallWallace

Aside from being a story about a racehorse, the story of Secretariat is a testament to the power of belief, perseverance, and heart. When I first learned about the story of Penny Chenery and her horse, I was struck by her courage to stand firm in the face of doubt. This acted as a kind of superpower, and Penny pushed forward when the odds were against her and trusted in something greater than herself. Penny’s journey isn’t just about talent—it’s about the relentless pursuit of excellence, the willingness to risk it all, and the drive to keep going when others give up. Secretariat was fast, but he was also a symbol of the extraordinary potential that lies within us all when we dare to chase it. Telling this story was a privilege, and it continues to inspire me every day. Secretariat is a reminder that the impossible is just waiting for someone to believe it can be done. #Secretariat #Storytelling #Inspiration

Songwriting is storytelling with a melody. In Nashville, I learned that every great song begins with a truth. That truth is something raw and real waiting to be expressed through words and notes. Nashville musicians also taught me that there's a deep simplicity to lyrics, one that's ironically a challenging simplicity. But once they're finished, they result in a powerful, emotional tale. It’s not about making something perfect; it’s about making something honest. Whether I’m writing a song or a screenplay, that lesson always stays with me. #Songwriting #Nashville #LivingtheBraveheartLife

Faith shapes our stories. In film, it’s the unseen life force driving characters to face insurmountable odds. It pushes them to fight, to love, and to believe in something greater than themselves. Faith invites us to explore the deepest questions about purpose. When I make a film, I look for the moments that inspire us to see beyond ourselves. When we do this, we connect to something eternal, something that moves us to hope even in the darkest hours. Whether you call it faith, spirit, or the power of storytelling, it’s what makes film truly unforgettable. #Faith #Film #HeavenisForReal

The Living the Braveheart Life book is one of the most influential things behind the live show. This book isn't just a reflection of my life and career; it's a call to live boldly, love deeply, and embrace the courage to fight for what matters most in your life. Those same themes are at the heart of the Living the Braveheart Life LIVE experience. In this unforgettable 90-minute performance, I draw from the stories, songs, and scenes that shaped my life and films like Braveheart, We Were Soldiers, and Secretariat. It’s about more than storytelling; it’s about discovering the spirit that inspires us to live with purpose and passion. Everyone has heard the saying "communication is key," but how is communication different on a film set? Communication in film isn’t just a tool or a simple human interaction; it’s the backbone of every scene, story, and moment. When you have hundreds of creative minds on set, all with their own ideas, perspectives, and interpretations, communication becomes more than just language; it morphs into a collective understanding and a kind of trust. Communicating a vision that lives in your mind can lead to something that inspires others, connects with them, and creates a world that none of us could build alone. The magic found behind the scenes almost always comes from someone speaking up. That’s the true beauty of communication in film ... ... so make your voice heard! #BTS #Communication #Secretariat

In every film, there are countless individuals whose contributions often go unnoticed but are essential to creating a believable and immersive world. These unsung heroes are the extras—the people who fill the bustling streets, cheer in the stands, or march across battlefields. In Braveheart, the extras were indispensable. They weren’t just faces in the crowd; they were warriors, villagers, and rebels. Many of them stood in the elements, endured long hours, and gave their all to bring 13th-century Scotland to life. I can still remember how their passion elevated the energy of every battle scene. Extras are a testament to the collaboration of filmmaking. They remind us that no role is too small when it comes to storytelling. The next time you watch a film, take a moment to appreciate the depth they bring to the screen. #Extras #Braveheart #BehindTheScenes
