At the Warrior Bonfire Program one of our goals is to build an army of support so that each of our members can call on peer members, staff or volunteers when a need arises. UP NEXT! Warrior Bonfire is in a full on march in March! We are hosting 5 retreats in 5 different states! We will be fishing at Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas, marching 26 miles at the Bataan Memorial March in New Mexico, fishing and clay shooting in Florida, turkey hunting and fishing in Georgia and lastly, training new Bonfire Retreat Leaders in Mississippi! This past weekend at Sawblade Outfitters in Macon, GA, for Bonfire 213, our Purple Heart recipients experienced more than just a world-class pheasant, duck, and hog hunt—they found connection, healing, and family. This hunt was mission focused as a group set out to meet duck limits, track hogs, and connect with supporters during a pheasant hunt. The community around Sawblade is a family that welcomes our purple hearts into their home as new family members! One of the most powerful moments of the weekend? Witnessing a local family, who met a former Bonfire participant last year, continue to support and stay connected with him. Through FaceTime he was connected to once again be a part of the Bonfire Flag Retirement Ceremony! This is the magic of what happens around our organization made up of great Americans that truly care about veterans! A heartfelt thank you to the incredible volunteers, donors, and the team at Sawblade Outfitters, Kenny Mccrimmon & Debbie, Dylan & Sinclair Still, Heather & the cooking crew, hunt guides Triston, Matt, & Josh, firearms fun by Michael Newton and all who made this weekend unforgettable. This past week on Bonfire 212, a group of Purple Heart recipients joined us in the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado for an unforgettable retreat. Each warrior stepped outside their comfort zone to break barriers and embraced new experiences through skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing! National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) partnered with us for the 10th year in a row to help amputees learn to ski and they were shredding the slopes by the 3rd day! Breaking barriers isn’t just about the physical—it’s about the mental and emotional growth that comes with it. Each challenge faced and conquered helped build resilience, camaraderie, and healing in ways that words can’t fully capture. It is HUGE to see a grown adult let go of the “I’m too old” mentality when approaching snow tubing to loving it so much that he didnt want to stop! 🫶 A big thank you to the incredible volunteers, Grand County Veterans, Granby Ranch and the NSCD who made this possible!
