Mam’Gobozi Design Factory crafted a compelling and culturally rich branding identity for the 4th Annual African Film & Art Festival (AFAF) 2023, hosted in Providence, Rhode Island. Tasked with encapsulating the diversity of Africa and blending the themes of music and cinema, the team created a visual language deeply rooted in African heritage. Drawing inspiration from a lost Burundian wooden shield, the design incorporates its geometric patterns as a foundation, seamlessly tying tradition with modernity. This foundation led to creating of two striking visual identities: one symbolizing a mask and a musical drum and the other fusing a mask with a film camera. These designs highlight the festival's dedication to cultural preservation and establish a unique, memorable aesthetic that reflects the spirit of African art and storytelling. The resulting identity is bold, meaningful, and reflective of the festival’s mission to celebrate the vibrant tapestry of contemporary African cinema and the ancestral roots of African music. Mam’Gobozi Design Factory’s work ensures that the festival stands out as a culturally significant event while honouring the diversity and richness of African traditions. https://lnkd.in/d2TKPQDu
