Mary Howell, Director of Charleston Community Engagement, joined Lucy on her daily Walk for Water in Kambu, Kenya. The walk is dangerous and difficult—but it was one of Lucy's final walks. Lucy now has access to safe water in her community. But an enormous need still exists around the world as 2 billion people do not have access to safe water. At the Walk for Water in Charleston, we will walk to bring safe water to more than 14,000 people around the world, transforming lives with the gift of health, opportunity, and hope. Join us on March 29 at Riverfront Park and help us make a lasting impact. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eYPpTQPx

Members of our team were honored to join other WASH organizations at the 2025 African Water and Sanitation Association (AFWASA) conference in Kampala, Uganda. We highlighted our safe water work through community development and disaster response, and exhibited our erosion chlorinator and Living Water Treatment System. We are grateful for this time to connect with our trusted partners in the sector, such as GRUNDFOS Grundfos Foundation | PDJF The Stone Family Foundation UDUMA and many others!

Ahead of #InternationalWomensDay on March 8, we want to honor all women by acknowledging their right to safe water access. But we especially want to highlight the next generation of women—the girls who will one day lead their communities. Read our story on Faith and Esther, two young girls who can dream for the future because they no longer have to worry about unsafe water, thanks to a partnership between charity: water and Water Mission. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eJ-Yeqf2

💙 Introducing Celestine 💙 Celestine is a little girl from the remote community of Kambu, Kenya. She used to spend hours each day walking two miles to collect water with her grandmother. The water they fetched came from a river where animals often tread. The water was unsafe and put children in the community at risk for dangerous illnesses. That all changed in the summer of 2024 when Water Mission brought a safe water project to Kambu. Our staff was there as the project was nearing completion, visiting with Celestine and experiencing her walk for water. Now, she and Kambu community enjoy reliable access to safe water. The project, our largest in Kenya to date, serves 9,000 people, including a hospital and seven schools, one of which is Celestine’s. At this year's Walk for Water in Charleston, we will walk to bring safe water to 14,000 people around the world just like Celestine. Would you join us? ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eYPpTQPx

💧 Our story of the month is live on our site! 💧 March's story highlights Dulce, a new mother from Mexico. When she was pregnant, she worried constantly for the health of her baby. The water in the surface well at her house was contaminated. Dulce had reason to be nervous about raising her baby in a community without safe water, having seen so many children get sick with skin and stomach infections from consuming the water. Dulce's fears were lifted when Water Mission installed a safe water project in her community last year. Now, Dulce is assured that her baby will not get sick due to contaminated water. “I think this safe water project is going to be a great benefit for everyone,” Dulce said. “It will help the health of the families here."
