Media Production

We Rise uses multimedia, digital, & live productions to nourish imaginations & action toward our collective liberation.

About us

We Rise was born of rage and a need to do something beautiful and strategic about it. There are so many ways to show up in this devastating, challenging, ripe political moment. As creatives, we craved a platform to share out the brilliance and bravery of our loved ones. We needed a space where process is just as important as product, where relationships and visions are tended with respect and care. It is rare to be able to gather together and create with integrity and genuine inspiration. This is our greatest aspiration, to nurture a culture of game-changing creativity. Our values include: • Solidarity • Cross-Pollination • Education as liberation • The personal is political • Community accountability • Self-determination ~ we tell and share our own stories Our commitments include: • Earth Defense • Decolonization • Heal cultural amnesia • Nourish cultures of consent • Uproot ableism in all its forms • #DroptheMIC (Military Industrial Complex) PRODUCTION SUPPORT Seeking assistance in audio, visual or video editing, engineering, writing, graphic design, social media, web development, audio or video narration, recording an event? We're excited to work with you. COLLABORATION Is there some other form of collaboration you've been dreaming up? We Please reach out! We would love to hear from you. SYNDICATION Are you digging our podcasts? We would be delighted to share them with your community! Contact us to broadcast our shows on your radio station or digital network. CONSULTATION Available for group and one-on-one consultations, we can support concept development, media strategy, and creative visioning. We can meet one time, or set up a consultation schedule to best nourish your work. Go to our website to learn more about what we offer, including classes, workshops, and trainings on media production and active solidarity (i.e.: racial justice, gender justice, intersectionality, decolonial theory and practice, and more).

  • We Rise Production reposted this

Post-election offerings from MYN's Executive Director, Lil Milagro Henriquez. 💜 "This is the work of many lifetimes. Tending to the practices that move us along the arc of a just transition; divesting from the extractive systems of harm, investing in a regenerative future rooted in reciprocity, care, solidarity. These are practices. We must grow stronger in the relationships that support our collective journey to practice living in accordance with our values.   In times of despair, I lean into my communities who, when faced with what feels like insurmountable odds, find strength in one another to unite even more. We need our communities and networks, more than ever, to continue building together at a hyper-localized level to manifest the world that we want to see not just for our youth but for our plant and animal relatives. I deeply encourage you to connect. Refuse consumption of the false narratives that perpetuate hyper-individualism, scarcity mindset, hopelessness. Build with your community; contribute to your networks. Tend and grow the relationships that inspire you to live into your role as a future ancestor. Listen, and learn from past and present movements for decolonization and liberation. Follow the calls-to-action from frontline organizers who are steadfast in global solidarity work and grassroots movements across identities and borders. Keep showing up in fierce, rageful, and loving solidarity with the people of Palestine, Congo, Sudan, and all Indigenous and frontline peoples of the planet. Build at scale; move in pace with the cycles and seasons of the Earth. Rest.  Hold your loved ones close. Grieve the contradictions that cannot be reconciled. Practice how you resource yourself, and how you return ready to fight in solidarity alongside youth and future generations. Practice rest.  As Mycelium reflects on our role in this moment, we remain committed to building a joyous and liberatory world where youth feel powerful and courageous knowing that they’re never alone in this fight. A world where they feel held in love, where they can greet the dawn with a purpose and hope. We will plan for how we can best share educational, care-centered, and action-oriented resources.   We invite you to resource the Mycelium Movement so that we may continue to plant the seeds of tomorrow. Your contribution supports our work to empower frontline BIPOC youth towards futures rooted in ancestral connection, place-based solutions, & untethered imaginations." Tiarra shares her personal initiation into Angel Motherhood and the Angel Ascension Awareness Month (also known as Infant Mortality Awareness Month, intentionally renamed by Auspicious Acoustics). Auspicious Acoustics uses sound and ritual as a medium for innovative grief-work, community building, and radical-healing. This Saturday, Auspicious Acoustics hosts BLESSED ASSURANCE – a grassroots fundraising initiative inviting support for the expansion of their services to the ABCs - Angel Baby Constellations – the parents, families, caregivers and loved ones of ascended young ones. Join us this Saturday September 28th 2024 from 1PM to 4PM at Pink Salt Wellness in Xučyun (Huichin) Oakland for BLESSED ASSURANCE; an Abundance Affirming Sound Ceremony and radical convening of Bay Area Sound Artists in a powerful prayer up for the Ancestry, and past/present/future generations. • New We Rise podcast episode 52 features our friends over at Shelterwood Collective! 🦋 the We Rise podcast is available 🎧 on Spotify, Spreaker or Apple Podcasts, transcript coming soon! Healing with the Land, Stewarding Shelterwood Collective is a conversation between Co-founder, Layel Camargo [They/Them], Wellness Practitioner, Erica Gibbons & Artist in Residence and Somatic Scribber Kate Morales, of Shelterwood Collective. ✨ We Rise is honored to be in community with Shelterwood, a queer, trans, black, indigenous, people of color-led land stewardship project located on unceded Kashia and Southern Pomo territory in so-called Cazadero, California. In their 3 years of stewarding the 878 acre forest, the Shelterwood community has weathered wildfire, atmospheric flooding, the strains of the nonprofit industrial complex, and relationship tensions as they discover how to be in right relationship with themselves, one another, local indigenous tribe and the land to bring this project into sustainable being for future generations. Kate, Layel & Erica offer us a generous deep dive into how Shelterwood is practicing and experimenting with a common thread in our communities: navigating triggers, tensions, & healing while trying to build the next world we want to live in. Shelterwood lets us into their process in hopes of continuing to illuminate an arduous but worthwhile journey. 🌱 Learn more & follow their work at ShelterwoodCollective.org 💧Connect with Kate | asthecrowfliesdesign.com | IG: @CrowCamino 🌿 Connect with Erica | IG: @DecolonizeMovement Both the Shelterwood team and We Rise would love to hear from you. How did this conversation land? What questions remain? What do you want to learn more about? Who do you want to hear from? Let us know! You can connect with us at WeRiseProduction@protonmail.com 🌈!

  • 🌱 Hannah & Cat first met at a Nakba Day 2021 rally on Chinook land, when Hannah spoke powerfully to a packed crowd. The focus then, a mere 3 years ago was on #SaveSheikhJarrah. As the violent Zionist occupation deepened their murderous terror, we deepened our friendship & organizing with the Oregon to Palestine Coalition. 🌿 On Land Day 2024, on the lush land of Baylasan Botanicals farm, planting olive trees, Hannah asked Cat if We Rise would be down to have her as an intern. Cat was elated. We are so honored to have Hannah join the team & cannot wait to witness, support & nourish her cultural production. 🎙 Hannah (pronounced Henna like the tattoo) Alzgal is based in Portland, Oregon - occupied Kalapuya lands, and ancestrally hails from Yaffa and Ramle, Palestine. A second-generation Palestinian student born in exile, she is learning how to tell the stories of communities, here and abroad, who are resisting the violence of U.S. imperialism and colonialism as a way to overcome the forgetting their loved ones have had to do as a result of it. Hannah comes from a history of youth leadership, first starting in student government and becoming politicized around identity to join Palestinian youth-centered organizing. Her time has been most dedicated to being part of her university’s Students for Justice in Palestine chapter, fighting alongside comrades in joint struggles from the Philippines and allies in solidarity to pressure their university to cut all ties with war profiteers for the liberation of all lands. As a culmination of her experience so far, Hannah finds her ✨ North Star in storytelling as a way to disseminate revolutionary knowledge and have loved ones connect memory to popular education. In her free time, Hannah enjoys expressing her (amateur) artistic abilities through poetry and painting. • Many of us at 🦋 We Rise are starseeds of the freedom school LIBERATION SPRING LLC! We’ve experienced many seasons of 🤲🏽 unlearning & learning, 🤲🏿 re-membering & storytelling, 🙌🏾 imagining & dreaming with this community that deeply roots & guides how We Rise navigates 💧 ideas, ✨ collaboration & 🌈strategy. We are so excited to dive into Uprising, a course formerly known as Revolution 🔥. For more info or to apply now 🌱: https://lnkd.in/gZxKSrxZ Hope you will join us this autumn, apply by September 9th! There are BIPOC only circles available & the class is offered at sliding scale donation / no one turned away for lack of funds. “Have you been wondering what it’s gonna take to actually disrupt the status quo & get set on the path to collective liberation? If so, I invite you to join us for our autumn course: Uprising. This journey is back for the first time in over four years & not to be missed. Let’s identify ethical praxis as transformative change agents on the lands where we live & within our communities at this particular moment in history. If you’ve been feeling defeated or like trying to make a difference is hopelessly futile, please know that it doesn’t have to be like that. The challenges we face today for our planetary survival are immense. So, too, is our potential. Our capacity to nourish mutiny. To create rebellion. I imagine you want to be in integrity and make your descendants proud. In this community course, we’ll vision what that can look like moving forward. Let’s (re)connect with our responsibilities as future ancestors & (in)finite beings. Feel free to be in touch if you have any questions whatsoever. Looking forward to sharing this experience with you soon.“
