🤱 Motherhood in the U.S. is an impossible task. Let’s talk about moms working. Moms juggling childcare, finances, career goals, housework, relationships, health — and still being told they’re not doing enough. For some moms, managing the household full-time may be the only option. In 2023, 15% of moms had to stay home due to a lack of childcare, according to a report from Motherly®. Others return to work postpartum out of financial necessity and then face insufficient workplace policies, lack of privacy for breastfeeding and pumping, and debilitating sleep deprivation. The postpartum phase impacts nearly every aspect of a woman’s health: her mood, digestion, strength, energy, and more. It can take up to two years (!!) for hormones to return to pre-pregnancy levels. These challenges are exacerbated by feelings of inadequacy and guilt — for leaving your baby, struggling at work, never living up to societal expectations. Rates of postpartum depression have increased over the last decade, rising sharply during the pandemic. Mothers feel like they’re failing. But we aren’t broken. The system is. At Chiyo, our mission goes far beyond providing optimal nutrition for every stage of the maternal journey. We’re committed to raising the standard of maternal care and changing the culture of motherhood for the better. Initiatives like Paid Leave for All, flexible working hours, remote work options, and subsidized childcare can create a more equitable system through meaningful policy change. We’re already seeing this in action: - Germany’s 36 months of parental leave - Japan’s free daycare for all children under 2 - Finland’s guaranteed flexible hours and hybrid work options We’re pushing for policies like these that support the profound work of every mother — whether she’s managing a career, running a household, or navigating the intricate balance between the two. What support do you need as a mom working? Share your story in the comments. 🌟 #WorkingForTheMatriarchy #WorkingMoms #MomsWorking #WomenInTheWorkplace #WorkLifeBalance #WomenInBusiness

Maternal nutrition has been neglected for far too long. We’re on a mission to change that—today and for generations to come. 🌱 Women in the U.S. and abroad face systemic barriers to comprehensive care, health education, and optimal nutrition. The stats are staggering: 90% of women lack essential nutrients while trying to conceive. Fewer than 20% of medical schools require a course in nutrition. Only 5% of global R&D funding went to women’s health research in recent years. We will not stand by and accept the status quo. It’s time to take our commitment to the next level. That’s why we’re launching 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗬𝗢 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 — our new social impact & advocacy division, dedicated to building generational health by prioritizing the mother through investment in nutrition research, education, and advocacy. We’re advancing four key pillars of impact: 🌿 Food is Medicine – harnessing the power of nutrition for women’s health. ✨ Empowerment – providing key resources and advocating for systemic policy change. 💡 Access – ensuring that evidence-based care is a right, not a privilege. 🌍 For the Future – building a healthier, more sustainable world for generations to come. In the past year, we’ve: 💰 Invested $23k in women’s health research. 🍽️ Donated over 1,200 meals & snacks from our kitchen. ⏱️ Spent 750+ hours in R&D to develop evidence-based nutrition solutions. 🤝 Built a network of 189 women’s health practitioners in our Chiyo Collective. And that’s just the beginning. Our mission is clear: to build new options for women from the ground up, and to raise the standard of care in our country. Join us in prioritizing maternal health and nourishing future generations. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e-TSX3hD #chiyo #maternalhealth #socialimpact #givingtuesday

🙌 It took a village. After 750+ hours, 550+ new recipes, multiple rounds of taste-testing, and expert guidance from our Clinical Advisory Board — it’s finally here. We just launched the world’s first holistic programs for optimal nutrition and hormone support across multiple stages of the maternal journey. We’re doing women’s health differently, because women’s bodies are different. Our new expert-approved 12 week programs target metabolism, inflammation, oxidative stress, digestion, mood regulation, and gut health. The Hormone Balance Program helps to manage diagnoses like PCOS and endometriosis, while the Fertility Enhance Program supports the use of assisted reproductive technologies like IVF, IUI, and egg freezing. And our beloved Postpartum Restore Program got a major upgrade. So go on, have a taste. It’s just what the doctor ordered. ⭐️ Hormone Balance — https://lnkd.in/ewZeQU2n ⭐️ Fertility Enhance — https://lnkd.in/eRaPiM6B ⭐️ Postpartum Restore — https://lnkd.in/ewCTCseN #launch #womenshealth #foodismedicine

In 2017, I moved to Chicago to work at Top Box Foods to get a ground level view on how to improve access to healthy food. I was knocking on doors, setting up mobile grocery routes, and developing public private partnerships on the South Side. It was some of the hardest and eye opening work I’ve ever done, and what propelled me to get a policy degree at Harvard Kennedy School. Fast forward 7 years, I never would have imagined I’d be on a Medicinal Meals panel at HLTH Inc. Before starting Chiyo, I’d gone to graduate school to figure out what job could give me the greatest impact on a broken food and healthcare system — I had an inkling the job that was needed didn’t yet exist, and that understanding policy would be critical. I then fell into nutrition for Women’s Health when I saw what I could not ignore — the lack of preventive care in my aunt and my sister’s maternal health journeys. No mention of nutrition in the conversation, when this has been a foundational part of care in other countries for generations. I saw a critical window in a woman's health journey with long term impact on generational health for her and her family. I built where no one else would (Women's Health was not a category at the time!) because this is what I wanted for myself, my friends, and my family. And the bigger challenge for myself is how to make nutrition the standard of women's health care to ultimately improve accessibility. Both Food-is-Medicine and Women's Health were keystones of the conference — at times uplifting and other times, sobering. Here are a few of my takeaways: 📱 Technology is an important enabler, but not the solution. There's no quick fix without behavior change - nutrition needs to be fun, community-driven, and incentivized in our built environment. 🔬 Estrogen hits every parts of your body — this is why we need to study and treat women differently. Twice as many women have Alzheimer's and we still don't know why. An estimated 6.5M women in the US have Endometriosis, but we still don't have good diagnosis tools or treatment. Sophia Yen, MD, MPH 📏 We need better qualification for "medically tailored meals" or "medicinal meals" - right now, there is no standard guideline to hold folks accountable Michelle Kuppich 💊 GLP-1s are everywhere, but we need more research, especially around its impact on baby + child development Carine Lenders, MD, MS, ScD Very honored to have shared the panel with Michelle Kuppich, Meghan David, Brett Matthews and Vanessa Rissetto, MS, RD, CDN. We need folks from all angles, in and outside of the health system AND folks in power to be our advocates. Thank you Maria Shriver for your tireless advocacy to get Women's Health Research on the agenda.

💪 Women deserve more. In a world that often ignores the vital contributions of women, we need to change the narrative. We’re creating an ecosystem of support and empowerment for women at every stage of their lives. 𝗪𝗘'𝗥𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔 𝗠𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗬. This Matriarchy is for all — centering and celebrating the women who are leaders and caregivers in their communities, careers, relationships & families, including the many paths of motherhood. All are welcome who connect with the mission to empower and uplift women. To bring this vision to life, we’re choosing new role models. Our role models are women of all ages. From the fearless teenage activist dreaming of a more equitable future to the wise grandmother sharing lessons from the past, each one is shaping our world. These women are not only caregivers; they are change-makers, advocates, and visionaries. Some Matriarchs we admire: – Dawn Huckelbridge at Paid Leave for All, leading the movement to pass paid family and medical leave – Erin Erenberg & Daphne Delvaux at Chamber of Mothers, working to support women’s legal rights – Reshma Saujani at Moms First, fighting for access to child care, paid leave, and equal pay – Kim Chappell & Michele Lampach at Bobbie, creating generational impact through policy, activism, and giving – Sophia Bush, advocating for reproductive rights and breaking the silence around infertility – Ayesha Curry, working to uplift and increase representation for Black women – Maria Shriver, a bold storyteller and trailblazer in women’s health It’s time for each of us to claim our place in the Matriarchy, rooted in the value of communal good. It’s time to fight for change, and build the world we need. The power of our Matriarchy lies in its diversity — every experience, every story, every journey adds to this vision. Then we can strengthen the fabric of our communities and support the health of future generations. What do you need in the Modern Matriarchy? What role models of yours embody this mission? Share your story in the comments! 👭✨ #matriarchy #workingparents #womenintheworkplace #womeninleadership #maternalcare #worklifebalance #womeninbusiness

🌟 Working for the Matriarchy 🌟 In honor of Chiyo’s Matriarchy campaign this month, I want to take some time to reflect on the incredible women who inspire me and countless others. I've been fortunate to learn from generations of matriarchs - their wisdom and courage have shaped our approach to holistic care at Chiyo, and taught us the profound importance of communal support. I have 8 great-aunts, 4 aunts, an older sister and soon a niece! I have also been fortunate to have incredible managers at every step of my career who shaped the leader I wanted to become. Something else I do is keep an inspiration folder of trailblazers as our north star at Chiyo. Here's a sneak peek: ✨ Jacinda Ardern - the former Prime Minister of New Zealand (and mom!) who has shown the world what compassionate leadership looks like — managing crises with empathy, fostering trust, and prioritizing inclusivity. ✨ Katrina Lake - with Stitch Fix she broke barriers in a male-dominated industry, paving the way for more female leaders in tech and retail — and was the first CEO to bring her baby to work during her company's IPO. ✨ Malinda Chouinard - a pioneer of equitable corporate policies with on-site childcare at Patagonia, showing us what it looks like to truly support the matriarchy. It's an honor to continue uplifting the Matriarchy and supporting the health of future generations both in what we do at Chiyo, and how we model ourselves as a company. Who are the matriarchs & supporters of the matriarchy who inspire you? 💪❤️ #matriarchy #womenintheworkplace #womeninleadership #maternalcare

At Spring, destigmatizing fertility and reproductive health conversations is of the utmost importance to us to make sure that people are making empowered and informed decisions about their bodies and futures. As fertility and reproductive health become more and more “talked about” topics among individuals seeking more active roles in their health and wellness, we’re so happy to see forward-thinking brands bring products and services to the conversation as support resources to make proactive care more accessible. In addition, they are creating spaces for education and community, where dialogue can continue to evolve, experiences can be shared, and questions can be answered. Click here for 9 brands we'd love to shout out for the work they're doing in fertility and reproductive health: https://lnkd.in/edhgJPSA Brands mentioned include: Headspace, SotoMethod, Modern Fertility, Winx Health (formerly known as Stix), Frida, Wisp, Chiyo.
