Following our recent announcement, we're proud to share how JMI helped bring City of Williamsburg, Virginia's African American Heritage Trail narrative to life. As a brand strategy firm deeply committed to authentic storytelling, we knew this project required more than traditional narrative development – it called for an innovative approach to community engagement and story preservation. Working alongside our strategic partner Share More Stories, we deployed tools like the SEEQ platform to capture and analyze meaningful narratives. This technology-enabled, human-centered approach allowed us to weave individual stories into a cohesive narrative that resonates with both historical accuracy and emotional truth. For our CEO Kenneth Johnson, a Williamsburg native, this project represented the intersection of personal connection and professional purpose. Our team, led by VP of Brand Strategy James Warren and Associate Creative Director Barbara Olwig, worked thoughtfully with the community to craft a narrative that honors the African American experience in this historic region. The result? A narrative that not only preserves crucial history but also demonstrates how modern storytelling techniques can enhance community engagement and cultural preservation. Williamsburg City Council has unanimously approved the narrative for the African American Heritage Trail (AAHT), a project that holds deep meaning for the city and its communities.
