🌟 Building Bridges, Creating Impact 🌟 We are proud to share inspirations and thoughts from our CEO Pamela Roussos this month. Stepping into the new year, we ask ourselves, “How do we cope with uncertainty?” “What can we do to weave a united and equitable future?” Jenny Fernandez, MBA, 费 珍妮, Kathryn Landis, and Julie Lee, Ph.D. from Harvard Business Review highlighted collaboration is one of the keys to inspire innovation and solve challenges. With a collaborative mindset, magic happens when we put different perspectives together. The future is uncertain, but we can take actions to create lasting structure for an equitable future. Storytelling fosters equity. Heather MacArthur (from Forbes) highlights NeuroLeadership Institute's research on storytelling’s power to reshape narratives with authenticity and empathy, paving the way for equity and shared goals. Collaboration overcomes systemic challenges. By bringing together different stakeholders, it’s much easier to solve complex social problems with collective advocacy. Invest in long-term success. With charitable giving on the decline Giving USA Foundation | The Giving Institute, by supporting groups with a sustainable goal, we can create lasting opportunities and economic stability. Let’s make 2025 a year of impact through unity and action. 📊 Reality Check: The Wealth Gap Persists in 2024 New data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Institute for Economic Equity reveals a stark reality about wealth inequality in America: 💰 For every $1 of white family wealth: • Black families own just 23 cents • Hispanic families own only 19 cents. The report pointed out that racial and ethnic wealth gaps have changed very little over the past few decades. We still have a long way to go for a diverse growth of properity across the nation. These numbers are more than just statistics—they’re a call to action. Addressing wealth inequality requires intentional efforts to bridge the gap and invest in underserved communities. By supporting local businesses in Chicago, Baltimore, and San Bernardino, we’re working to create equitable access to resources and opportunities that can transform these figures into a brighter future. Special thanks to researchers Ana Kent and Lowell Ricketts at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for their crucial work in documenting these economic inequities. Together, we can change these numbers. Join us in our mission to create more equitable access to resources and opportunities for all communities. 📢 The Supreme Court's big decision to end affirmative action has created a ripple effect beyond education. This decision has particularly impacted venture funding accessibility, where Black women founders already capture only 0.3% of venture capital in the first half of 2024, according to a report written by Chris Metinko from Crunchbase. At WeavingImpact, we stand with entrepreneurs Rahama Wright(CEO of Yeleen Beauty and Shea Yeleen) and Danielle Kristine Toussaint ( founder of Purple Haus) in their call for building Black wealth and economic independence through cross-diaspora collaboration. Their powerful messages on the podcast co-hosted by Kelly Burton, PhD and Ifeoma Ike, Esq. resonate deeply with our mission to bridge the wealth gap - because when systemic barriers rise, our commitment to creating alternative pathways becomes even more crucial. 🤝 Let's connect and work together to support your growth journey despite these challenging times. Our doors are open, and our commitment to your success remains unwavering. 🚨 The wealth gap continues to manifest in small business funding. New data from Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Voices reveals a stark reality: 86% of Black small business owners are concerned about access to capital—significantly higher than the overall average of 77%. This disparity isn't just a number—it's a barrier to dreams, community growth, and generational wealth building. At WeavingImpact, this reinforces why our mission to bridge the wealth gap in Chicago, Baltimore, and San Bernardino is more crucial than ever. Join us in our mission to change these statistics. Together, we can create more equitable access to capital and resources for all entrepreneurs. Thanks Markevis Gideon from NERDiT NOW for the contribution!
