We signed a contract today with Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant in Bulgaria to conduct a safety analysis for licensing a new nuclear fuel assembly design compatible with KNPP Unit 6's fuel design. Thank you to Bulgaria's Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov for attending the signing ceremony in Sofia. This agreement ensures fuel diversification for Unit 6 and follows the delivery of the first reload of VVER-1000 fuel assemblies to KNPP Unit 5 earlier this year, an important milestone in Bulgaria as KNPP celebrates its 50th anniversary. Westinghouse Electric Company and Aecon Group Inc. announced today the signing of TWO MAJOR AGREEMENTS for the development and deployment of advanced nuclear new-build projects in Canada and around the world. 1) Under a Strategic Cooperation Agreement, Westinghouse and Aecon will work together on opportunities for the construction of AP1000® power plants in markets throughout Canada; and, 2) Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU), Aecon can build on its experience of supplying AP1000 modules and nuclear components at Vogtle and other projects to potentially expand the supply of key AP1000 and advanced nuclear reactor components to projects in Canada and abroad. These agreements are the latest example of our commitment to entering into meaningful agreements with our Canadian supply chain that lead to actual work in new build projects globally. We have signed a memorandum of understanding with BWXT Canada, Ltd. to support nuclear new-build projects in Canada and globally. Under the agreement, BWXT Canada has the potential to manufacture key AP1000® and AP300™ reactor components, including steam generators, reactor vessels, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers. As North America’s dominant player in nuclear power generation equipment, BWXT will provide Westinghouse and its customers with certainty around the supply of these major components. Great news for the Canadian nuclear supply chain! Export Development Canada | Exportation et développement Canada is providing $2B of financing to support the AP1000® project to build Poland’s first nuclear power plant. Why is this significant? Because it's Step 1 in Westinghouse Canada's top secret plan, namely: grow and diversify the Canadian supply chain by employing it now in export markets; and, leverage the expanded supply chain to build the next Canadian large reactor. For each AP1000 unit that is built outside of Canada, Westinghouse could generate almost $1 billion of Canadian dollars in gross domestic product (GDP) through Canadian local suppliers. Westinghouse is Canadian-owned and the only nuclear vendor with a proven, fully operational Generation III+ reactor technology that is ready to be deployed in Canada and generate electricity by as early as 2035. https://lnkd.in/eQzhxiVR

Today, we welcome the announcement of a Letter of Interest (LOI) for US$1.45 billion ($2.02 billion CAD) in financing from Export Development Canada | Exportation et développement Canada (EDC) to support the AP1000® project to build Poland’s first nuclear power plant. Westinghouse helped facilitate the financing for Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ), the state-owned company that is responsible for developing the plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania.
