One goal I’ve been very focused on this year is making sure that a certain percentage of all coaching and leadership development work goes to the coaches on my team. This was a huge growth goal for the organization but especially for me. It goes hand-in-hand with my goal to work fewer hours and find better balance in my life. In 2024, I achieved the highest percentage ever of my team working with clients versus me. However, I am not working fewer hours. Instead, I’m spending all of that “extra” time with our coaches and facilitators, teaching them how to deliver for clients the “Winning Ways” way. That time has been well-spent. Leaders, what big goal did you achieve this year? Please share with us so we can celebrate your success! #GoalSetting #LeadershipStrategies #GTownCoach

During a recent author discussion for my book, “The Leadership Evolution: Become a More Effective Leader,” I shared what makes a leader a star performer: 1 - High IQ 2 - High emotional intelligence 3 - And importantly, the ability to move quickly to a calm state when faced with a crisis or challenge It was such an exciting and engaging discussion, and I will be hosting more events over the next few months. Last week, I wrote a post about goal setting. You may have a lot of ideas, but I recommend choosing “One Big Goal” that is related to your word of the year for 2025. 𝐁𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭. If you try to focus on more than one goal, you end up dividing your attention between the two goals. You may make progress toward both of them, but it will be much slower and you may run out of energy. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩? For inspiration, past Leadership Evolution Program participants have chosen to: 1 - Speak up and share ideas twice during meetings. 3 - Become a more active listener. 4 - Cultivate a more psychologically safe culture. When choosing your One Big Goal, choose something that is a stretch for you and makes you uncomfortable. Once you have chosen your One Big Goal, share that commitment with your team. By doing so, you include them in your efforts, build trust, and show them that we all have something to work on to better ourselves. Back to my question: What is One Big Goal that will most impact your leadership? #GoalSetting #LeadershipSkills #GTownCoach

If you’re a leader, you can also use this day to express generosity toward your team. During my coaching career, I have seen how vulnerability promotes growth among leaders. And yet, being vulnerable is one of the scariest things a leader can do. Most avoid it. I encourage my coaching clients to share mistakes - and laugh at those mistakes. I recently witnessed this, and it was actually a joy to behold. My financial advisor calls me each month to connect and go over my finances. I always look forward to these calls. Earlier this month, he called a day earlier than I had on my calendar. I was free, so I took the call and we had our monthly conversation. The next day, he called me again. It was apparent he didn’t remember talking with me the day before. I wasn’t sure if I should tell him, but I did. He paused and then ….he let out a big belly laugh. He said, “Wow, I am so embarrassed. I am glad you told me. I must be getting old to make this kind of mistake!” I loved that he easily laughed at himself and confessed to his mistake. Not a lot of people can do this. As a leader, sharing mistakes encourages everyone on the team to admit their mistakes and take them in stride. What can you do today that would increase your transparency and your vulnerability with your team? Please share so we can learn from you! #SelfAwareness #LeadershipStrategies #GTownCoach
