From Venice to New York, it’s a seamless journey for Bottega Veneta and one that is strongly linked to its history. The luxury brand on Saturday unveiled a new Residence on Madison Avenue, with a book reading and brunch to celebrate the brand’s new Richard Scarry capsule collection. This followed a first such project, Palazzo Bottega Veneta, which was inaugurated last June in the Italian lagoon city housed in the 15th-century Gothic Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel, adjacent to the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli. “It’s a magical space, and the spirit is very similar,” chief executive officer Leo Rongone said of the New York venue in an exclusive interview. “We have really tried to curate the space with objects we love, as the Residences embody our core values and create a dialogue between our two foundational cities.” Read more : https://lnkd.in/edFCsfq9

Louis Vuitton has renewed its financial support for the Musée d'Orsay in Paris as the prestigious museum embarks on a major renovation program. The French luxury brand will commit 20 million euros between 2026 and 2030 to the Musée d’Orsay and its sister institution, the Musée de l’Orangerie-Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, according to sources familiar with the matter. This follows an initial partnership between 2022 and 2025 that saw the cultural venue host its first fashion shows. Vuitton’s fall 2022 collection was unveiled in the museum’s central nave and its Galerie Courbet, while its fall 2023 display was held in the grand former ballrooms of the Hôtel d’Orsay. On the heels of its Paris Fashion Week debut, Ganni A/S will open a flagship Friday at 1055 Madison Avenue, its fifth store in New York City and its 25th in the U.S. The Danish fashion house already has stores in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, the Flatiron District, Bleecker Street, and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. “As you know, obviously with New York being a key fashion city — we have today a good presence in New York but unfortunately we’re not yet covering the Upper East Side of Manhattan — it sounded like an obvious choice for us to enter Madison and to be able to broaden our customer base,” said Laura du Rusquec, chief executive officer of Ganni, who joined in April from BALENCIAGA where she was the deputy CEO. The retail environment is an open one. Shoppers come into stores to browse, touch products, try on fashions, read the fine print on skin creams and, if they connect, buy something and leave with the goods. But that openness has been working against merchants in this post-pandemic world as more people come to pick up product, but leave without paying. The adolescent five-finger discount and more concerted shoplifting efforts by groups of thieves — what is now called organized retail crime — have always been a part of the industry. But now it’s something more. Read more : https://lnkd.in/e-sMtGDn

On today's cover: Securing Retail - Stores have played cat and mouse with shoplifters forever, but over the last 18 months the industry has been locking away goods and pushing for new laws to combat a major surge in organized retail crime, which could once again darken the upcoming holiday season. Talk about a Grinch. For more, see pages 8 and 9. https://lnkd.in/eMMQSwWM
