Work for America reposted this
Energized by the big tent that the Work for America team has created, bringing together 60+ orgs that share a commitment to building governments' capacity through workforce. Bravo and thanks to Caitlin Lewis, Shifra Goldenberg, Ashleigh Holand, and the rest of the host team!
✨ Reflecting on an incredible day of collaboration at Powering Public Service! In partnership with National Governors Association, National League of Cities, and National Association of Counties, Work for America brought together 60+ organizations to tackle state and local government workforce challenges. The role of cities and states has never been more important, and it was so energizing to be in community with people deeply committed to supporting these governments. I left filled with “big ideas” and a sense of alignment on the core strategies the field needs to advance in the new year. We also heard stories that prove that real, impactful change *is* possible in government—and that the solutions are already emerging, such as: 👉 St. Louis modernizing its talent system in record time (Krizia Lopez) 👉 Boston applying people-centered management to public sector issues (Alex Lawrence) 👉 Orlando & LA County driving equity through innovative staffing models (Salman Akhtar) 👉 Rockdale County, GA expanding opportunities for justice-involved individuals (Toni Holmes) 👉 Alabama creating a skills-based talent marketplace (Amber Garrison Duncan, PhD) A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed their energy and expertise. This work is essential for ensuring that state and local governments—the backbone of our communities—can deliver the services we all depend on. We’re excited to keep the momentum going💡💪
