‘When America Goes to War… Our Families Go to War’
About us
Our mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. The families of our casualties suffer in many ways: some physically, some psychologically. Wounded Warriors Family Support mitigates their trauma by allowing them to find peace and solace as a family once more in family-friendly resorts that we provide free of charge. Please take a few minutes to learn about Wounded Warriors Family Support and what we do to support the families of those who, as Abraham Lincoln said, "... gave the last full measure of devotion." We cannot complete our mission without you. Please visit our site to learn more about what we do at wwfs.org. As the caregiver to a Wounded Warrior and mother of two young children, most of our household and family responsibilities fall on me. After my recent surgery, Wounded Warriors Family Support made it possible to have my mother travel and stay with us to help out so I was able to recover. We did not have the funds to get her here and she had to take time off work with no pay. She couldn't have come if it were not for your help. As a caregiver, a lot of times I put myself last. This gave me an opportunity to put myself and my recovery first. WWFS has also helped with childcare so that my husband and I were able to attend a much needed marriage retreat. I cannot begin to say how much we appreciate all of the help WWFS has provided our family. Cara Light May 26, 2009 – Steven Light was ejected from the Humvee after the suicide bomber ran into his vehicle. He was the only survivor from his vehicle. He spent 6 months at Walter Reed rebuilding his leg. He broke several bones through his body including his arm, shoulder, leg, foot, nose. His injuries also included burns, shrapnel, mild tbi, bone graphs and skin graphs. Steven was awarded a Purple Heart for his service to our Nation. #WWFS was honored to attend the CHI Health Midlands Hospital’s Healing Pavilion on November 20th at 2pm for the official Flag Raising Ceremony. CHI Health Midlands has two dedicated floors to veteran care and a direct relationship with the Veterans Affairs of Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System to streamline care and resources so veterans here in #Nebraska receive the best care possible. "Our nation's flag represent the many sacrifices made by our veterans. We must honor the memories of those who came before us, and thank those who continue to protect us today." - Mark Longacre, President, CHI Midlands Hospital

A special #thankyou to the Woodcliff Lake Nebraska Residents for their continued support of our local #MilFam. The Woodcliff Veterans Club has contributed to #WWFS for many years and this year also contributed to a handful of other #Fremont and #Omaha Metro area veteran charities. #TogetherWeServe these #VeteranFamilies and it is the support of patriotic Americans like you that make it all possible. What a great example this community sets for their city.
