Yale spinout CREW Carbon, co-founded by Noah Planavsky and Joachim Katchinoff, has signed a $32 million agreement to remove 71,878 tons of CO₂ between 2025 and 2030. Meet James Licato ’25 and PhD student Claire Chouinard, the co-founders of Catala along with Professor Jaehong Kim. Catala is transforming industrial wastewater treatment to make water cleaner and safer for all. Catala received support from Yale Ventures' Roberts Innovation Fund, which provides funding and mentoring for Yale faculty-led projects to assist in the commercialization of breakthrough inventions that solve real-world problems at the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science. Catala was also the 2024 winner of the Sustainable Venture Prize at Startup Yale hosted by Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (Tsai CITY).
