At Youth in Focus, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to create. For students like Ethan, access to photography isn’t just about learning how to use a camera—it’s about discovering a voice, building confidence, and finding a community.
“Youth in Focus paved the way for me to take that first step into trying photography. Before starting the Creative Career Cohort, I knew nothing about a camera except that it took photos, but during my time there, I learned a lot. I was able to learn about all the different attributes of photos and even was able to visit one of Nordstrom’s photography studios! If that wasn’t enough, they even gave me a slightly used Rebel T3 to continue my photography journey while hiring me as a photographer for some events later on! I’m very thankful for all the opportunities Youth in Focus provided me, and I’m grateful that I can give input on future classes by being on the Youth Advisory Board!”
Ethan’s story highlights what makes Youth in Focus unique: we provide access to the arts for over 450 young people every year through free programming, loaned equipment, and mentorship. But there are more stories waiting to be told.
