ZeroAvia's mission is a hydrogen-electric, zero-emission powertrain in every aircraft. From 19-seat regional trips to over 100-seat long-distance flights, ZeroAvia enables scalable, sustainable aviation by replacing conventional engines with hydrogen-electric powertrains. We are a team of passionate innovators dedicated to bringing safe, zero-emission flight to aviation, with locations in Kemble and London in the UK, and Hollister, California.

  • We’re pleased to announce that we have been selected as a winner of the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patents for Humanity Green Energy Award. The award recognizes innovations that address climate change through game-changing green energy technologies that are the subject of or pending a U.S utility patent. ZeroAvia was recognized for the totality of its patent applications that cover key inventions to unlock hydrogen and electric propulsion for aircraft, enabling the use of green hydrogen as a fuel for truly clean commercial aviation.     We are honored to host David G. Victor professor of innovation and public policy, UC San Diego as our day 2 keynote speaker at our Hydrogen Aviation Summit 2024. David’s research is hugely relevant to understand how we can accelerate the pace of novel technology adoption to address climate change. Additionally, his work on how regulation affects energy markets provides insights into the policy frameworks that will be needed to support hydrogen as a viable decarbonisation vector. His most recent book, Fixing the Climate, examines challenges facing top-down global treaties, and urges local, creative policymaking and collaboration between government and businesses to experiment with new technologies and find workable solutions.   • We recognize the urgent call to action from over 50 climate and aviation scientists, who have signed an open letter urging decisive steps to address aviation's non-CO2 emissions impacts during the final days of COP29 in Azerbaijan. The climate emergency is undeniable. Certain sectors of the economy are significant drivers of this crisis, with transportation playing a key role—and aviation being one of its largest contributors. Between 2005 and 2019, global aviation traffic doubled, leading to a 40% increase in CO2 emissions. However, the climate impact of aviation extends far beyond CO2, and this is where a critical gap in action remains - creating an urgent need for immediate and focused action from all stakeholders in the aviation ecosystem. We’ve known for sometime that non-CO2 effects—including nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), and contrails—warm the planet at least as much as aviation’s CO2 emissions. Due to the error bars on individual effects, often the industry has called for more research. But here leading scientists make their view clear. At ZeroAvia, we are committed to eliminating aviation’s climate impact through scalable hydrogen-electric propulsion technologies. Hydrogen, when used in fuel cells addresses not only CO2 emissions but also NOx and PM. The only remaining emission is water vapor, and even that is at significantly lower temperature than with jet engines, presenting the opportunity to deploy management of this exhaust. Without progress that delivers the electrification of flight, the climate impacts (including CO2 and non-CO2 emissions), air quality and noise impacts of aviation will have a negative impact on communities across the globe. If we try to tackle emissions by restricting flight, we will get less economic, societal and cultural exchange. Innovation is the answer, and it can deliver cleaner flight and lower costs.
