ONLINE JOB AD REVENUE SHRINKS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE AT LEAST 2015. Are job seekers and employers starting to realize the value in talent marketplaces? Are niche community sites like Enjoy Mondays, Otta, and Hired finally gaining steam on generic job boards (i.e. Indeed, Monster, Linkedin, CareerBuilder, ZipRecruiter, etc.)? Separately, on May 13, Indeed CEO Chris Hyams released a post reporting the company was laying off 1,000 people (approximately 8% of its employees). Indeed ranks as the second-largest online jobs advertising firm in the world. What do you think?

Summer is the ideal opportunity to have a review of your adverts before candidate traffic increases substantially in September. Looking to optimise your Indeed ads? When was the last time you had a free independent Indeed audit done on your account? Common advertising challenges include: 1. Jobs not receiving enough/too many applications 2. Certain jobs spending too much of your budget 3. Campaign budgets hitting before the month is over resulting in your jobs falling offline 4. Not advertising with the most searched for job titles in your industry 5. Not reviewing your competitor jobs online, who gets most applications in your industry? The data is there. Let us know if you are ever unsure about the best way to advertise your jobs or if you are unsure about what you are getting from your advertising buget. There is always a solution. Happy recruiting. 😀

I don’t understand the fury from recruiters around Indeed stopping free advertising. Why should you get candidate traffic for free? Reed did the same back in the day when they stopped free advertising and agencies kicked off then. Free doesn’t work forever for a job board, and it’s a fair exchange whilst it lasts. As a recruiter if you build reliance on a free channel then you’re building your castle on sand. Remember TJ putting their prices up and everyone kicking off. Now it’s Indeed. This is part of a wider trend and we’ll see more of the same moving forwards. Recruiters need to secure routes to market that aren’t dependent on a single source. The indeeds of the world will not look after you long term so build your channels accordingly and stop complaining about the loss of a freebie.

Right now there are 36 job boards with a paid listing at JobBoardSearch 🔎 Which is all time higher 🥳 They spend between $19 and $499 /mo some have been advertising for more than 2 years 🙏🏻 Overall it made $47.924 💵 It's getting known in the industry Job site owners that I don't know from anywhere getting a paid listing and when I ask for feedback they said they found it on Google Or because job board softwares recommend their users to get listed Receiving partnerships or affiliates proposals I keep receiving DMs from job board founders or people wanting to build one for advice A lot of account with even millions followers are mentioning it Is probably time to double down? 🤔 #buildinpublic #jobboards #jobsites #recruitment

It literally pains me to see companies reposting the same job ads repeatedly every few weeks for months knowing I can help. You leave people assuming either A. You don’t really have a need B. You don’t know what you are looking for (or worse, what you want doesn’t exist) C. No one is monitoring what comes in or D. You won’t be proactive to fix the issue quickly for your team, company or hiring manager. Don’t think for one minute you aren’t hurting your brand and people aren’t noticing. Your field of prospective candidates see it. Your competition sees it. Vendors, business partners and potential investors see it…and people talk.

Google has yet to confirm the news, but those in the know are reporting that it is killing the product-like ads that it was testing adjacent to the Google Jobs interface. Join Cohosts Peter M. Zollman of AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds) and Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site for this breaking news episode to learn what we're learning in real-time. We don't think that this will be a date that will live in infamy, but it will be a date that those in our industry will be talking about for a long time.

Indeed. is the #1 Recruiter on Radio. Let's think about this. Indeed radio ads are directed to Recruiters to post their employment opportunities. They do not mention your company in these numerous radio ads. They do not mention the specific positions. You post a job on indeed. Those seeking jobs, resume ready, naturally go on Indeed. They Might find you. They Might! OR ... you can have a professional (me & I know a few people) , write and produce a phenomenal creative ad promoting Your Company, the position(s) available and direct it to the Passive Job Seeker. Your Most Qualified Candidate. Your best candidate, their family, friends, will Hear your opportunity. And that my friends, is how to reduce the number of resumes from folks who are not qualified. Indeed is a good tool, absolutely utilize it. LinkedIn too. Neither have the ability to Speak and be Heard. We remember more of what we Hear vs what we Read 4 to 1. Be Heard ! 😉🎙📻

Free adverts!! Its starting to look like the game might be up for free adverts across the leading job boards. Indeed switched their free (or unsponsored) adverts off for recruitment companies back in May, and I would suspect direct clients will feel this pinch as some point soon. Also this week we had a client tell us that their ATS has a note to say LinkedIn's free advert posting is due to stop in August. What impact has this / will this have on your business? If you want to know more about what these "free options" have provided you are your options for potentially integrating them into your advertising once they have a cost drop us a line. We have recently done review for a client who got 20% of their applications from Indeed (when they scrapped their website). By looking at their existing advertising spend and performance we were able to integrate Indeed into their advertising without increasing their spend by cutting the underperforming elements on their existing spend. #advertisingadvice #recruitmentadvertising
