Mental health is crucial, yet it’s often overlooked in men’s lives. Societal expectations and ingrained cultural norms have long pushed men to suppress their emotions, reinforcing the idea that vulnerability equals weakness. This stigma has serious consequences—men are statistically less likely to seek help, but far more likely to suffer in silence and face mental health crises. It's time to break the silence. Prioritizing mental well-being doesn’t make you "less of a man." In fact, opening up about challenges and emotions shows strength and courage. Encouraging conversations about men’s mental health in the workplace, at home, and among friends can help break the cycle of isolation. If you or a man you know is struggling, encourage them to reach out. Talking about mental health isn’t just important—it can save lives. #MensMentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #BreakTheStigma #EndTheSilence #Wellbeing #Support
Thank you Dr. Asif Sadiq MBE for shining a light on the need for men to feel okay to talk about their mental health. Vulnerability...not a term that society has ever deemed 'okay' for men to open up about. We need to break down that stigma. Please do check out Talk Club - they do amazing work through talk and listen sessions all over the UK. Ben Akers Gavin Thorpe
Well done on this very important post Asif. The sexual harassment training I’ve been running covers how men are very often the victims, and are less likely to report it as they fear they won’t be believed… or that they ‘should be strong’. Everyone needs support. Nobody’s life is easy. Not everyone finds it easy to talk. Let’s always keep open minds and hearts 💕
This is so true and as a male with a disability and with mental health issues there are so many different issues i deal with and yet the resources are almost non existent in my area. Even finding fellow Deaf or hard of hearing fathers just to share the unique frustrations of being a deaf dad is a challenge. Hopefully one day we can see many of these stigmas torn down and better supports in place.
Men's mental health needs to be addressed because it is a crucial part of general health. It can be enhanced by dismantling stigma, encouraging dialogue, and creating supportive surroundings.
Thank you for sharing Dr. Asif Sadiq MBE Last Sunday over 1,000 hospitality people across the UK walked 20km for #walkforwellbeing to raise awareness of #MentalHealth and raised over £110.000 for Hospitality Action our industry charity. Great post, so glad to see this as so often the image is don't cry, don't show weakness, always be strong etc word's used but we are all human and the challenges of life can affect us all, and import to address this no matter if your a man or woman.
Such an important message. Mental health affects us all, and it’s time we break the stigma surrounding men’s mental well-being. Encouraging openness and support can make a world of difference.
Thank you for saying it Asif, I see soo many men being victims of societial pressure and of toxicity and bottling it all up. I really wish men let go a lil bit and know that they aren’t alone in this. Please know “the body keeps score”
Something that hits home particularly as a parent of a son growing into adulthood.

2moThe stigma surrounding men's mental health is a silent storm that ravages countless households, driven by the societal expectation that men must be stoic and strong. When men internalize their emotions and refuse to seek help, it leads to devastating consequences: irritability, anger, and aggression create a toxic environment for their loved ones, eroding trust and straining relationships. This untreated mental health crisis extends beyond the individual, causing wives and children to suffer from increased stress, anxiety, and depression, with children often developing emotional and behavioral problems due to the instability. Breaking this cycle requires a shift in societal attitudes, emphasizing open communication and creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment where seeking help is recognized as a sign of strength, not weakness. This change is crucial in addressing the mental health crisis that affects so many families.
