As part of the collaborative Marketing Office, the Video Producer will inform, inspire, and engage internal and external audiences through video and multimedia. In this newly created position, the candidate will produce high-quality, professional video productions for the college marketing office. This candidate will lead, produce, and edit high-quality video promotions, interviews, news stories, and special projects from initial brainstorming sessions all the way through post-production. Videography work will include shooting video and photographs on and off campus and producing video and photographic marketing pieces vital to achieving the College of Natural Science marketing office goals and the college strategic plan. The candidate should have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and self-manage timelines; possess effective project management skills from ideation to launch; and be a strategic thinker with a proven ability to craft impactful and engaging stories through digital and video platforms. They will produce content that will be featured on the college’s website, social media, and email, among other platforms.While the chosen candidate will be joining a collaborative and supportive team, the Video Producer will often be working individually, and will typically be the sole or lead person responsible for audio, video, and lighting during filming. To that end, we seek an individual who is both collaborative and a self-starter.This is a hybrid position that reports to the Senior Marketing Officer for the College of Natural Science. Individuals will be expected to work on campus at least three to four days per week.Candidate will oversee the creative and technical production processes for video stories including ideation, script, storyboard development, interviews, editing, color correction, music, audio, accessibility requirements and visual graphics. They will also master and export versions for online distribution, college programs, research, events, and archival storage (i.e. web, digital applications, and archival platforms).Production & Editing (50%)+ Creates story boards to align with goals and video briefing materials.+ Manages videotaping, lighting, and sound to capture compelling content.+ Directs, designs, and edits scripts for video stories.+ Brainstorms creative new visions for content.+ Performs and leads interviews with various subjects including faculty, students, alumni, donors, and community members.+ Directs, schedules, and evaluates multimedia studio and remote locations for creative and effective compositions.+ Provides direction to people on location shoots to elicit the desired performances.+ Edits succinct and impactful stories from extensive interviews.+ Directs and produces video segments for repurposing and targeting audiences.+ Produces SRT and transcription to meet MSU accessibility requirements.Research & Coordination (30%)+ With colleagues and college leadership, identifies pertinent topics, interviews sources, and collects information to schedule and coordinate videos, and photography.+ Serves as a project lead and manager on all video assignments in the college marketing office.+ Tracks and coordinates assignment progress and status using the marketing office project management software.+ Analyze the effectiveness of videos through analytics and make recommendations for projects.+ Maintains knowledge of MSU branding standards and accessibility requirements and understands how it impacts video and photography production.Resource Management (20%)+ Maintains and monitors video and audio material to assure compliance with archival and preservation standards.+ Leads the orientation and training of staff and students using video equipment.+ Manages the video production budget and makes recommendations for the purchase and maintenance of video equipment.+ Manages photo and video intern(s).Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Television Production, Broadcast Journalism or Telecommunications; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in studio and remote television production, directing, editing and the use of related television equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experiences with database, spreadsheet, and multimedia editing software, Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software. (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Premiere Pro, After Effects). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and intellectual curiosity. Must have a valid driver’s license.Desired Qualifications+ 5+ years video production, directing, editing or readily transferable skills.+ 5+ years of producing highly visible video.+ Collaborative team-oriented style.
