- The tricky thing about working with stress is that our innate response to stress is to stress more, to become more rigid, what we think of as stronger and more resistant to whatever is there in our bodies emotionally. Of course, if we take a moment and we think about it, we realize immediately that makes no sense. Resistance plus resistance is merely a lot more resistance and so when we understand this, we understand stress, the impact on the body, the impact on the mind, now we can actually come to a conclusion of what works. Trying harder to push something away will never relieve our stress. Distracting ourselves from the communication and the body whether that's binge watching Netflix or just ignoring a problem and going on to the next one will never solve anything. Intellectualizing, just trying to get as far away from the emotional experience in the body and just think about it a lot also will cause that communication…
