'Blue economy' sees rising tide
A number of companies around the country have set out to prove that conservation and capitalism don't have to live at odds when it comes to protecting the ocean. The New York Times highlights companies making smart fishing nets, growing seafood, while restoring kelp and helping ships avoid hitting whales, which has various positive knock on effects beyond saving the mammals. The "Blue Economy" has been growing in prominence in recent years as countries and companies deal with overfishing, the decline of ocean life and an increasing demand for sustainability.
