The results are in! Obumneke Ohiaeri, a Research Assistant at Texas Tech University, is the winner of the #AGU24 Photo Contest. The winning photo was captioned: “Field measurements of ecosystem fluxes at the Marvin Klemme Experimental Rangeland using a chamber and LI-COR gas analyzer. The setup is part of ongoing research to quantify carbon and water fluxes in semi-arid grasslands, contributing to the understanding of ecosystem dynamics under changing environmental conditions. #AGU24."

Sequoia’s LISST particle size analyzers have revolutionized the study of flocculation in aquatic environments. Since the mid-1990s, they have often replaced older technologies with real-time, in-situ measurements. About 15% of research papers with LISST data focus on flocculation, highlighting LISSTs’ versatility in diverse environments, from lakes to oceans, at depths up to 6,000 meters. https://lnkd.in/gJuvtMmi

My presentation at Venice Symposium will be on Hydrothermal Carbonization for energy generation. I shall report the results of several lab tests that we carried out on our pilot HTC Lab between 2022 and 2024 with various organic feedstock types.

Did you know that Plankton are amongst the most diverse groups of organisms on earth? They are essential to supporting the primary production and nutrient cycling in the ocean. At the MBA, we are home to the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey. Designed in the 1920s by Sir Alister Hardy, the CPR unit collects and filters plankton, helping us to understand the importance of natural changes and human-induced changes in our ocean. 🌟 In 2023 we launched the iCPR project which aims to enhance global plankton monitoring capabilities! The iCPR is equipped with advanced sensors, capturing key environmental variables and detailed plankton imaging using a holographic camera; enabling us to visualise biological contents without disintegrating cell structures. 🌊 The CPR Survey is now trialling the iCPR in the Irish Sea, Norwegian Sea, Labrador Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. ➡️ The role of the iCPR sampler is taking our understanding of the ocean to the next level.
