IDA Ireland has partnered with the 100 Million Trees Project with the introduction of a small dense forest in IDA Business & Technology Park, Athlone. A group of approximately 40 IDA Ireland staff planted 2,500 native Irish trees and shrubs on an unused plot of land. The planting is part of the initiative which aims to plant 100 million native Irish trees across Ireland by the end of this decade. "As part of our commitment to biodiversity and sustainability, the collaboration with the 100 Million Trees Project marks a significant step forward for IDA’s delivery of sustainable initiatives in Athlone Business & Technology Park and across the portfolio," said Sarah O'Connell, Head of Property at IDA Ireland. We're taking quarter acre sites if we can get people to donate them whether private individuals or farmers or institutions. And we're planting 2500 native trees, 15 different types on each side. Idea has a keen interest in sustainability, which is obvious from our strategy. It's one of our key pillars. Over the next decade the hope is to plant 100 million trees and we're certainly on target to hit that number. So over 7 to 10 year periods you get this wonderful development of a beautiful biodiverse areas for birds, bees, bugs. Project We really appreciate you coming out today. We really are doing something good for the environment by planting trees and keep planting trees. Thank you very much guys.
