When meeting someone for the first time, the best thing you can offer is your advice and help. Genuine connections are built on the willingness to give before asking. By sharing your insights, offering guidance, or connecting someone to a valuable resource, you show that you’re invested in their success. Networking isn’t just about growing your own contacts; it’s about building meaningful relationships that add value to others. The more you help, the more you open doors to unexpected opportunities and foster a community where everyone can thrive. If you need a place to practice your networking skills, join us at the Puttery in NYC for the Tomorrow's Champions Mini Golf fundraising event tomorrow (10/15)! Go here for info and tickets, and if you can't make it, please consider making a donation. https://lnkd.in/eDUSi_jt Every dollar counts towards supporting TC, along with the four organizations we are supporting during this event, Ice Hockey In Harlem, Street Soccer USA, HARLEM JUNIOR TENNIS AND EDUCATION PROGRAM INC and CityLax! Please reach out if you have any questions. I can certainly guarantee you will have a fantastic time, all in the name of helping kids elevate themselves through participating in sports. We all know how valuable it is to get kids started in sports at an early age, and Tomorrow's Champions mission is to give every child in the NYC area the chance to be on a field, court, rink... Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! #Networking #GivingBack #ProfessionalRelationships #BuildingConnections #PayItForward

Yesterday I had my yearly wrap-up meeting for my youth ministry position. We talked through the typical checklist: -outreach efforts for the new year -how to better engage teens in Bible study -end of the year Christmas party for the kids -intergenerational projects to connect the youth group with the rest of the church And everyone's favorite...the BUDGET. Every two years, we send our teens out of state to a nationwide(+ Canada) youth rally. And they reliably have the time of their lives, which is the coolest thing for me as a leader to watch. But to get there costs anywhere from $4k-$6k when we have maximum attendance. Which for us has meant busting our butts for two years straight creating fundraising campaigns, complete with insane amounts of promotional materials, and pulling off somewhere between 10-12 fundraisers in the interim. It's stressful. And sometimes we lose the reason why. The kids start associating all forms of service with boosting our bottom line. We panic if we don't see the numbers we want from every event. Yesterday we really dug into that. And my pastor said something that stuck with me. He said, "If we're going to fundraise, there has to be an incredible why." Marketing 101, really. Your why HAS to be emotionally evocative. You HAVE to connect to the beating heart of your audience, or the lifeblood of your campaign can't start to flow. And you have to know how to sell without sounding like you're selling. Or, like our youth program almost did a few years back, you risk exhausting your audience to the point of no return. Your audience is handing you their hearts. Handle them with tact, or you might lose them forever. What's your why? #25daysofLInkedIn #churchleadership #christiancopywriter #Advent #marketingtips #christianbusinessowners
