I think it's pretty shocking that a senior EU politician spreads inaccurate myths about how EU decision making works. I'm looking at you, Mario Draghi: 'The EU "empowers ECHA to adapt limits and impose bans at any moment" wrote Mario Draghi in his report for the European Commission focussed on competitiveness and investment.' Totally incorrect - ECHA produces an analysis of the situation, following a request from the Commission or an initial dossier created by one or more Member States. Following extensive discussions and consultation, this is then sent to the Commission. The Commission then decides what legislation to draft, in consultation with Member States, who need to support the measure for it to become law. The whole process can take over 10 years, during which time many thousands of tonnes will be discharged into our homes and the environment. In the case of PFAS, these chemicals will persist & pollute for a very, very long time - and there is no sign that the companies that profit from the chemicals will pay to clean up the world's water supplies - or our bodies. NGOs are often accused of being ideological, what should we say about Mr Draghi, whose report spreads inaccurate information (see below) in order to bow to industry's mantra of deregulation. Forgetting, that regulation is there to ensure people’s health and safety, as well as to protect the natural environment future of humanity depends on. Members of the European Parliament discussing Draghi’s report today should be aware of it

🌍 Why We Can’t Afford to Delay EUDR Compliance 🌍 The recent call from Tony’s Chocolonely to fast-track the EUDR despite possible delays raises an essential point: supply chain transparency and sustainability cannot wait. With global supply chains under increasing scrutiny, postponing action on EUDR compliance could lead to greater risks down the line. 🔍 Why Start EUDR Compliance Projects Now? Mitigate Future Compliance Risks: Starting now helps companies avoid rushed, last-minute compliance efforts that can be costly and disruptive. Strengthen Market Reputation: Companies that proactively implement sustainable practices demonstrate accountability, earning customer trust and loyalty. Build Resilient Supply Chains: EUDR encourages more transparent, traceable supply chains, helping businesses reduce dependency on high-risk sourcing areas. Organisations have an opportunity to lead the shift towards sustainability and fair sourcing practices. By taking action now, businesses not only contribute to a more ethical world but also build resilience and trust in an increasingly regulated landscape. Let’s turn intentions into action and make the change today! 🌱 #EUDR #SupplyChain #Sustainability #Compliance #Transparency https://lnkd.in/ekMwEqJq

“📣 A.I.S.E. actively engaged during two days in the first stakeholder Working Group meeting for the revision of the EU Ecolabel criteria for detergent and cleaning products. 🧼🧴🧽 The meeting was organised by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC) and took place on the 12 and 13 of March. Discussions during the meeting covered all topics of the EU Ecolabel draft technical report which encompasses six detergent categories. AISE International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products appreciates the efforts of the JRC to explain the developments of the revision in a transparent manner to the stakeholders. The discussions on new criteria regarding restricted substances and new obligations for packaging in the revision were meaningful and involved several industry sector organisations.
