2degrees’ Post

If you were in Auckland central today you may have come across something a little different!    This morning, we stopped Aucklanders in their tracks with a striking ice sculpture installation in Takutai Square, Britomart - to demonstrate the speed and scale of climate change and a commitment to reduce our emissions. Made from 2,500 litres of rainwater and weighing over two tonnes, the sculpture symbolized the speed and scale of climate change, with ringing mobile phones frozen inside to highlight the connection between our industry and the need for action.   As the ice melted, and the calls from "Earth" kept coming through, it served as a powerful reminder of the urgency to combat climate change. Today, we also announced that 2degrees is the first New Zealand telco to achieve validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for our net-zero 2040 target.*   Thank you to everyone who joined us to reflect, engage, and commit to action. Let’s all answer the call. Learn more in our Community Impact Report at 2degrees.nz/Sustainability   *2degrees' targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative under The Corporate Net-Zero Standard. Reaching net-zero requires 90% reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 from FY2022 baseline and investment in initiatives to balance out the rest
