🌍 Climate action isn't about telling people what to do, it's about making green choices easier! 👏👏👏 The UK's Climate Change Committee says behavioural changes like eating less meat, flying less, and using public transport are key, but it's all about enabling citizens to make green choices by working on policies that focus on affordability and accessibility—like cheaper electricity to encourage people to install heat pumps or use electric vehicles, and providing better public transport so we can choose different ways to get around. Ultimate message? 🚨In Europe, #climate change is one of the main environmental concerns of the 21st century. It remains a tangible reality that has significant impacts on the environment, human health, the economy and the society. The increase in average temperatures over recent decades has led to the melting of glaciers, rising sea levels, more frequent heat waves and extreme weather phenomena such as storms including Babet, Agnes, Daniel, etc which had hit countries like Denmark, Germany, Norway, and the United Kingdom Which in total affects 1.6 million of Europeans. This results in multiple and often devastating consequences for populations, biodiversity and ecosystems. Intense heat waves have become increasingly frequent, with serious consequences for the health of vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly and children. Precipitation is more variable and extreme contributing to floods and droughts with impacts on agriculture, food security and water supplies, jeopardizing the production of essential foodstuffs. Indeed, ocean warming and rising sea levels are seriously affecting marine and coastal ecosystems, as well as coastal communities. Far from being limited to this, climat change also has harmful repercussions on biodiversity, with the threat of extinction of animal and plant species due to the loss of their natural habitat and changes to their environment. Faced with these challenges, the European Union and its Member States have adopted several measures to combat climate change, including targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2050, the decarbonization of industries based on wind power, hydroelectricity, the development of renewable energies, and policies to protect the environment and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The European Union has also adopted several ambitious objectives in terms of transition to a greener economy, including the extension of protected land and maritime areas and the restoration of ecosystems degraded by using pesticides. Despite these measures,concerted and sustained efforts would also be necessary to guarantee a better life for future generations. It is also important to encourage innovation, research and development of clean technologies to meet this global challenge.

Engaging and collaborating with the private sector, both big corporates and SMEs, are key to a just climate transition. As an organisation and with the guidance from our Trustee Olubukola Popoola we have begun implenting our strategic Environmental Management System. For Be United, this is new for us. For me, this is an exciting stage of our journey and evolution. Our Mother Earth is crying out and I believe that as organisations and individuals we all have a responsibility to act. The time is NOW! Organisations have influence, so in this season, as we take action. I hope to inspire myself and others around us to take positive action to reduce our impact on the planet and people most effected. We will publish more of the steps that we are taking, big and small.
