𝗘𝗨 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #Valeo CEO Christophe Périllat advised at the Automobilwoche that European leadership must learn from its new US counterpart to emphasize more value generation in the EU. This will help: • maintain the industry's Quality and Safety standards • prevent further loses in local and international market share, and • ultimately safe lives, when working to the same industry standards and values. I have alluded to this in my previous posts, but it is refreshing to see action around that. Lets hope such advice does not fall on deaf ears. #automotiveindustry #Safety #compliance #homologation #valuegeneration https://lnkd.in/eutdu5fa

Happy to attend the Reuters Events: Automotive Europe 2024 in Munich with interesting inputs from different speakers. - Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares: We need stable framework conditions, political objectives should not be constantly questioned. And protectionism is not the answer to Chinese competition. It leads to more inflation in the domestic markets and weak exports. - Volkswagen’s Group Board Member for Technology Thomas Schmall was also clear: A "Master Plan" is now needed in Europe. The USA had made a decisive strategic step with the Inflation Reduction Act, whereas China is following its own strategy as well. Something similar is lacking in Europe. There are still two to three years to react. - In the panel "How is Government Regulation changing the Automotive Industry Landscape?" I underlined this message. Our current problem is not the CO2 target for 2035, but instead we need flexibility, a robust enabling framework and suitable funding conditions to achieve this goal.

🚗🌍 Reflecting on Regional Integration in the Automotive Industry: Insights and Challenges 🌍🚗 The automotive industry is witnessing a trend of increasing regional integration, largely driven by Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs). Notably, in North America, the sector is experiencing unprecedented levels of integration, deemed necessary and further reinforced by regional initiatives. Similarly, a gradual integration is emerging between the European Union and Canada, albeit in a more limited fashion. 🌎 RTAs play a pivotal role in promoting regional integration within the automotive sector. However, their effectiveness is often hindered by outdated regulatory frameworks, limiting the potential for deeper integration. Despite these challenges, the industry is poised for further integration, albeit impeded by state-driven trade strategies and the rising tide of protectionism and Euroscepticism. 📖 In addition to internal obstacles, such as outdated regulations, external factors like growing environmental awareness can sometimes conflict with integration goals. National regulations may also impede integration, leading to tensions among industry stakeholders. 💢 Conclusion ➡ Despite challenges, regional integration in the automotive industry is inevitable and crucial for global competitiveness. Collaboration between governments and industry players is key to modernizing regulatory frameworks, overcoming political hurdles, and fostering sustainable and harmonious economic integration. ➡By working together, we can shape a future where the automotive industry thrives, driving growth and innovation in this rapidly evolving industry while helping to meet today's challenges. #Automotive #RegionalIntegration #Environment #Collaboration #Verizon
