#friday #funfact #trivia 🚀 Did you know that the concept of using tin cans for food packaging dates back to the early 19th century? The invention of tin-plated iron for sealing food cans actually has an interesting backstory! In the early 19th century, Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military leader, offered a cash reward to anyone who could invent a method for preserving food to feed his army. Nicolas Appert, a French confectioner and chef, rose to the challenge and developed a method of sealing food in glass jars, which he then placed in boiling water to sterilize and preserve the contents. Appert's method was effective, but glass jars were fragile and not suitable for transporting food to far-off battlefields. In 1810, Peter Durand, an English merchant, built upon Appert's idea and patented the process of sealing food in tin-plated iron cans instead of glass jars. This innovation made it possible to transport and store perishable foods for long periods without spoilage, revolutionizing the food industry and providing a practical solution for feeding soldiers during wartime. So, the invention of tin-plated iron for sealing food cans was born out of a combination of military necessity, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative thinking, ultimately leading to the widespread use of canned food products that we still enjoy today. #foodandbeverageindustry #foodindustry #foodpackaging #foodandbeveragemanufacturing #qualityassurance #qualitysystems #standar #foodindustry #innovation #tgif #foodauditor #foodandbeverage #packagingindustry #packagingdesign #amazing

Quite refreshing (no pun intended) to see a company talk about their logistics in an advert. Capturing the value, informing and with a hint of japery. Good work Timothy Taylor's Brewery. #orginalcontent #useyourloaf #supplychain
