Aside from HR/OD/TD, Quality Management is among my core competencies. Since 1999, I have been involved in ISO 9001, and it has been my go-to framework for Quality Management. I have been a Deputy QMR/QMR/Lead Auditor in several organizations here and abroad for IS0 9001. However, I have growing preference for the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) because of its strong emphasis and alignment on sustainability and organizational culture. Though ISO is trying to catch up on this, but I feel that EFQM is way ahead in integrating Sustainability to its standards. One of the best ways to keep that journey on track is by using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) Cycle. It’s a systematic approach to process improvement that helps you test changes and ensure sustainable quality growth. Plan: Identify what needs improvement and create a strategy. Do: Implement the plan on a small scale to test the change. Check: Review the results to see if the change made a difference. Act: If the change was successful, implement it on a larger scale or adjust as needed. World Quality Week 2024: Quality Begins Where Compliance Ends CQI | The Chartered Quality Institute I had the pleasure of attending an insightful session as part of #WorldQualityWeek, led by Willy Vandenbrande a seasoned expert in quality management. The theme, “Quality Begins Where Compliance Ends,” was a powerful reminder of the evolving role of quality in our organizations. We explored the transition from simply meeting compliance standards to achieving true performance and excellence.
