Dear Indian Govt, rather than squeezing half of our salaries via income tax and indirect taxes, please diversify income streams that add up to your treasury. Why go far to the west, our Asian neighbours are killing it when it comes to boosting their economies. Here’s one income stream for example: Hosting global festivals / events that can bring in thousands of crores in days / weeks. - Singapore got Taylor Swift to perform there in Mar’24. That gave their economy a boost of close to $500M or 4000 Crore rupees. - Thailand is also reportedly hosting Tomorrowland (one of the biggest music festivals) 2026 onwards. This will bring in thousands of crores rupees to the economy in a matter of days. - Indonesia too is keen to stage big concerts and fests after Swift’s concert in Singapore.
