"The Cape Cod Commission is pleased to present the 2024 Cape Cod Interchange Intersection Crash Analysis Report summarizing the top crash locations of the intersections with interchange ramps and local intersections in Barnstable County. The Commission analyzed 32 intersections across 15 interchange systems on Routes 6 and 28, excluding Bourne (which is being studied as part of the MassDOT Canal Area Bridge Replacement Project). Using crash data from over 1,100 reports, CCC staff identified high-risk sites for the interchange ramp intersections based on crash totals, rates, and severity. The findings aim to prioritize Roadway Safety Audits (RSAs) and safety enhancements at the highest ranked locations in collaboration with the Towns and MassDOT. This report is now available on our Transportation Safety webpage and we hope you all can give it a quick read to learn more about this analysis and these additional top crash locations in our region." Happy to have worked on this report!

THE FEDERAL BRIDGE CORPORATION LTD. ANNOUNCES THE START OF THE SECOND BLUE WATER BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT POINT EDWARD, March 28, 2024 – The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (The FBCL) is announcing the Second Blue Water Bridge (SBWB) rehabilitation project, set to start on May 29, 2024. In keeping with our continuous investment in stewardship, for the first time in over two decades, the SBWB will be closed, while the First Blue Water Bridge (FBWB) will operate with bidirectional traffic to maintain essential operations for commerce and commuters. The vital rehabilitation work, much of which will occur beneath the bridge, is key to ensuring our high standards of safety and efficiency. By actively managing disruptions, including extending work hours into nights and weekends, we aim to manage the project’s timeline effectively. Our joint efforts with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are vital, enabling the execution of crucial maintenance activities on both sides of the border with considered measures to manage traffic flow. Key Highlights of the Rehabilitation Project: Bidirectional Traffic: The FBWB will operate bidirectionally, sustaining traffic flow in both directions, while the SBWB undergoes rehabilitation. Wide Load Restrictions: To ensure safe navigation through the construction zone, loads will be limited to less than 3m (10 feet) in width. Uninterrupted Toll Service: Toll booth operations will continue to provide uninterrupted service. #bluewaterbridge #Sarnia #exports #imports #infrastructure https://lnkd.in/dwWrAJFZ

The true transportation deficit in Maryland is a much larger “pothole” than officials care to admit. They have shared the $3 billion CTP number, but that only includes the roadway capacity they cut from the program. It does not include the $6 billion in roadway maintenance (state of good repair, or SoGR) left undone over 10 years, or the $5 billion in local road funding cut from Highway User Revenue over 15 years. #LetFactsGovern #LEAVENOmOdEBEHIND

Across the country, highways that were built decades ago now need modernization to serve the needs of growing and changing communities. Over time, many of these roads have become badly mismatched to the way that people use them today, as they serve commercial areas, residential neighborhoods, industrial districts, or areas with an evolving mix of uses. Join USDOT Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg and Representative Earl Blumenauer and national and local experts on July 31 at 3:00-4:15 p.m. ET to explore case studies, resources, and Federal funding opportunities that can support the modernization of Legacy Highways as a way to improve safety, spur development and affordable housing investment, and provide better access for everyone using the road. #USDOT

For my network in DC, MD, and VA here is an important survey on the region's transit system.
As part of the #DMVMoves initiative, COG and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) are conducting a survey to understand residents’ needs and desires about the future of public transportation in the region. Help shape the vision for our region's transit! Take the survey by Aug. 4: https://lnkd.in/ep4jeDXK
