Amongst some sobering statistics at #SBI5 (only 29 of 196 Parties have submitted their National Plans to implement the GBF) some sparks of hope. New Zealand spoke of the importance of the Global Analysis which will play a key role in supporting implementation by improving our understanding of which global targets we have collectively been able to address, and where we have collectively faced challenges. They noted that the analysis could be improved even further by including alignment mapping at the target element level, as defined by the AHTEG on indicators. It suggested that this could be facilitated through improvements to the Online Reporting Tool, which would enable Parties to select the specific target elements which their national target aligns with, enabling analysis at a more granular level so we could more easily identify any gaps in scope or coverage”. 👏 👏 Ministry for the Environment | Manatū mō te Taiao #COP16Colombia #PeaceWithNature

🌎 Safeguarding the #GlobalCommons is possible if humanity works together to transform how we live our lives with nature. Laura Clarke OBE, CEO, ClientEarth spoke to us recently about the need for urgent action across sectors at all levels. 👇 "We need people to galvanize. These challenges are so all encompassing that we need to come at them from every angle. Of course from law but from government, from the arts and culture, from the media, from science, of course behavioural science, business, finance. "We need all sectors of society to drive together in bringing this more positive change." This is why the Global Commons Alliance exists. Because it will take collective endeavor – and action – to ensure a #SafeAndJust future for people and planet. At #COP16Colombia today we are hosting two special events designed with this purpose at their heart: 🔵 A community building workshop focused on enhancing our collective impact and exploring how stakeholders can support corporate accountability in meeting #KMGBF targets. In particular, Indigenous Peoples and local communities will play a key role in this “People’s COP” event. 🔵 An informal partners reception to explore collaborative opportunities underway within the GCA, including the launch of our new 2030 strategy. We invited our partners to bring one new potential partner or colleague interested in accelerating #SystemsChange and becoming a guardian of the global commons. 📆 While these events are invite only, you can still register for other GCA events.
