These results, obtained in collaboration with The Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, lay the groundwork for the development of first-in-class prophylactic vaccines, offering new hope in the fight against Leishmania infections. Welcome to the PVP's Research Administration Corner with Geraldine Pierre! Winter respiratory virus season is upon us, and with that the PVP is dedicated to enhancing influenza vaccine efficacy to protect vulnerable populations. Today’s spotlighted contract awarded by NIAID to Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) is the “Vaccines Adjuvant Development Program in Infectious and Immune Mediated Diseases”, AKA “The VADP” project. This collaborative project will advance the synthesis, formulation, and pre-clinical evaluation of the PVP-037 small molecule adjuvant in human cell culture and age-specific animal models, aiming to position the molecule for an eventual clinical trial that could point the way to more effective flu vaccines. The PVP scientific and administrative teams are working with BCH central offices to ensure compliance with regulations to enable Ofer Levy MD, PhD and David Dowling PhD to focus on developing PVP-037 #adjuvant to improve the flu #vaccine. It truly takes a dedicated multidisciplinary team to successfully administer these complex projects and the PVP team is well equipped to meet the challenges!

🌟 Exciting News from Desert King! 🌟 We are thrilled to share groundbreaking research published in The Lancet Microbe on a new SARS-CoV-2 recombinant spike ferritin nanoparticle vaccine adjuvanted with the Army Liposomal Formulation containing QS-21 (ALFQ)! This Phase 1, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, led by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, demonstrates the vaccine's impressive safety and immunogenicity. 🔬 Key Highlights: ✅ The vaccine, co-formulated with the Army Liposomal Formulation (ALFQ) containing monophosphoryl lipid A and QS-21, showed protective efficacy in animal models and now in human trials. ✅ Participants received either 25 μg or 50 μg of the vaccine, with strong neutralizing antibody responses and T-cell activation observed. ✅ The study confirms the vaccine's robust and durable immune response against a broad range of SARS-CoV-2 variants, including challenging omicron subvariants. As a not-for-profit registered charity and subsidiary of #UniMelb, Doherty Clinical Trials has been established by The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity to accelerate the development of novel medicines and vaccines through bespoke early phase clinical trials solutions, including human challenge trials. A human challenge trial is a type of early phase clinical trial that allows researchers to test the effectiveness of vaccines and therapeutics for infectious diseases, with the aim of speeding up the development. Researchers from Caltech, the University of Washington, the University of Pennsylvania, the University at Albany, The Rockefeller University, The University of Edinburgh, Creative BioSolutions, LLC (Miami, FL), HDT Bio (Seattle, WA), Acuitas Therapeutics, Inc. (Vancouver, Canada), and Ingenza Ltd (RoslIn, United Kingdom) have developed and tested a new #COVID19 #vaccine candidate called mosaic-8 that has shown potential to protect against different types of #sarbecoviruses, including #SARSCoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and its variants. The mosaic-8 vaccine is made up of #nanoparticles that elicit antibodies against conserved features of sarbecoviruses. Each nanoparticle contains pieces of eight different sarbecoviruses. These pieces are regions of the viruses' #SpikeProtein, called receptor-binding domains (RBDs), that are crucial for the virus to infect a cell. Great progress for our PNP-based mRNA vaccine candidate in Influenza, and 20Med continued transformation into a clinical-stage development company. ⬇   Novel preclinical results for our lead infectious disease program in influenza have been published in the peer-reviewed journal ‘Molecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids’. The in vivo data underscore the potential to develop a clearly differentiated mRNA vaccine candidate by switching the delivery vehicle to a polymer-based nanoparticle instead of an #LNP. 20Med will continue to advance the program toward clinical evaluation.
