🌍 Expanding Horizons in a Changing World 🌍 Back in 2015, during the pivotal negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group, I saw an opportunity for international companies entering a dynamic but challenging market. Together with my exceptional business partner Faridedin Naraghi, we established SMART INVEST IRAN, a professional market entry services agency. Our goal was to help clients navigate complex terrain, from multinational corporations to business delegations and embassies. When the #JCPOA was signed, we were ready. Attended the inaugural ASEAN Pretoria Committee (APC) Business Mixer event, organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria, in collaboration with the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) and Business Unity South Africa (BUSA). The event took place on November 5, 2024, at the Indonesian Ambassador's Residence in Pretoria. The event was attended by 100 individuals, including representatives from 25 ASEAN member country companies operating in South Africa, 35 South African companies, ambassadors and diplomats from ASEAN countries, and South African government officials from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and InvestSA - Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC). The purpose of this initiative is to establish and facilitate a professional networking platform that connects businesses from ASEAN and South Africa. 🤝 Exciting News! 🇨🇴🇦🇪 Colombia and the UAE have officially signed an economic agreement after two years of negotiations. This marks Colombia's first deal with an Arab nation, aiming to boost trade in goods and services with a focus on environmental protection. Once implemented, 85% of Colombian products entering the UAE will be tariff-free, while 63% of UAE goods entering Colombia will enjoy the same benefit. The agreement covers 19 chapters, including market access, SMEs, and sustainable development. Key products like coffee, fruits, and garments will enter the UAE market tariff-free. Both countries have also agreed on a five-year tariff elimination plan for additional goods. This agreement strengthens bilateral ties for mutual growth. As the Chief Representative of Dubai Chambers for Colombia, I'm thrilled to witness this historic milestone. This is a significant development for Morocco, as its efforts to attract investments from Asia demonstrate a commitment to expanding economic partnerships and diversifying foreign investment sources. By targeting Japan and Korea, two of the world's most technologically advanced economies, Morocco is positioning itself as a prime destination for global investors, especially in sectors like renewable energy, automotive, and technology. The delegation led by the Minister of Investment underscores Morocco's strategic approach to showcasing its business-friendly environment, modern infrastructure, and free trade agreements. GBA or Global Business Africa, was initially proposed and conceived as Global Business Angola by the UAE- Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Angola’s Ministry of Planning. The event was held to showcase the unexplored purview of Angola’s investment and business potential to the international community. The previous two editions, held in 2022 and 2023, grabbed the attention of key players from global markets- Italian, Brazilian and Indian to name a few- as well as prominent government entities including the UAE. After the monumental success of the last two editions, the 2024 edition strives to bring the entire continent under the umbrella of GBA- Global Business Africa.
