In Osun State, Nigeria, despite having the country's second-highest literacy rate, women and girls of childbearing age exhibit limited knowledge and demand for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services. This is largely attributed to cultural taboos surrounding discussions on sexuality. To address these challenges effectively, concerted efforts are needed to enhance data collection, foster collaboration between public and private sectors, bolster financing, streamline supply planning, and innovate to better meet SRH needs. Nigeria continues to fight with hurdles in addressing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) issues, particularly those concerning maternal mortality, access to family planning services, and disparities in healthcare access between rural and urban areas. Cultural and religious beliefs, along with limited access to SRH products and services continue to persist. There are improvements in family planning services and contraceptive prevalence rates but more remains to be done to meet the country's targets, especially in underserved communities. There is a need for targeted interventions and resources to address specific regional needs. See more findings and recommendations in our report on Nigeria’s SRH sector here- https://lnkd.in/dHEkg_bF #SRH #Nigeria #SEMA

One good thing leaders should do is to build leaders around them. You're not a super human: you need people. Delivering the project wouldn't have been possible without my team, which has members from MWFAAN Nigeria, YALI Network Ondo, KidsnTeens Resource Centre and #Jekatunro. Together, we did this. #srhr #srh #ProjectSafe
Hats off to our Ondo State Coordinator Saheed Ibrahim and his team for successfully wrapping up Project SAFE! Adolescence is a critical state for every individual and it’s important to guide the young minds on making the right decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. In view of this, the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter, joined forces with Kids and Teens, YALI Network Ondo Hub, and Jekatunro Initiative to bring to fruition PROJECT SAFE: a campaign aimed at raising awareness about sexual and reproductive health among adolescents in Ondo State. #ProjectSAFE #MWFAAN #SRHR

🌍 **Empowering Healthier Futures: Family Planning and SRH at mbora** In Malawi 29% of pregnancies occur among teenagers—rising to 35% during COVID-19. In our rural communities, girls become mothers at just 15 years old on average. Adolescent girls often marry before the age of 18, with those lacking education marrying even earlier. mbora is striving to help bridge these gaps, providing accessible healthcare via outreach clinics in mbora Hubs and empowering communities to make informed choices for a healthier future. Our Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Program focuses on empowering women and girls who seek to delay or limit childbearing. 🌟 #FamilyPlanning #SRH #HealthcareAccess

From August 12 to 14, 2024, a regional youth workshop on sexual and reproductive health. These young people come from USAID-funded ExpandPF implementing countries. Participants come from Togo, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Mauritania. I focused the young people on scaling up high-impact SRH and FP practices. My presentation enabled the young people to identify the categories of high-impact practices, the strategies for scaling up high-impact practices, the foundations and reasons for scaling up to achieve health equity, and the reasons for scaling up for diversity.
