Some people are brilliant community builders - because it’s not only in their bones, but they never stop learning. Like Nishma Patel Robb 🪩⚡️ Patel Robb Nishma is one of my absolute favourite people in the marketing industry, ever since I had the joy of working with her at Dentsu. She’s achieved so much in her career, from glittering success in the travel industry, to client and commercial leadership in the agency world, to being Senior Director of Marketing at Google, to being President of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership )…and now to prepping the launch of her exciting new start-up, Glittersphere. Throughout that journey, I’ve always known her as someone who is hungry to learn, and to try new things. She’s been one of the first and most active LookUP readers and supporters, which Caroline Keylock and I much appreciate! And there’s no space where that is more essential than in navigating the challenges of creating vibrant workplace communities in the modern world. As Nishma said herself in her LookUP interview: "The best leaders will be the ones who go, 'I don't know', and who are comfortable with their vulnerabilities…the hardest thing is actually decoding our brains and behaviours because we have had our entire lives surrounded by command and control behaviour” So how do we put the vibrancy back into workplace culture? During my most recent career break, I spent time reflecting on the amazing career that I have had to date – some of the smartest, bravest and kindest people have been my partners and muses who nudged me to think bigger, love deeper and embrace the joy of not knowing.  And in this gap, another group of amazing friends, colleagues and cheerleaders have emerged to help me consider of the kind of work and how I want to contribute as I enter this next phase of my working life.  The lines between working, not working are less visible.  It is less about what I do, and more I about with whom and how I do impactful work. Be Here was a gift from a conversation.  An amazing human who simply asked me to be with her in that moment.  Nothing more, nothing less – but HERE we are a year later and it has become the name not just of my firm, but my intention.  Space can feel like a privilege.  Yet, these gaps are vital to our health, to our growth and to our relationships. Space is available every day, even if for just a few minutes – embracing those moments is where I want to help you or your teams. Designing experiences that consider all the ways humans can thrive and charting the paths to more meaningful work. I let LinkedIn AI write this intro – just as an experiment.  Words like “accelerated”, “results”, and “measurable” appeared.  I guess I look like I can do something and I hope after this post, you think so too….perhaps in a bit more mindful, intentional and provocative way with connection at the core. We did it!! I am so very proud of us!! 🎉 How many times have you thought, 'Someone should do something about that,' only to move on with your day? That happens to me all the time and I may get as far as starting the conversation but with my busy schedule, too often I drop the ball. But this time, I couldn't let it slide. Two years back, in a chat with Steffi Freedman (@freedmanteamrealtors), we discussed the need for real estate agents to thrive despite life's interruptions. Often, it would’ve been too easy to stop the conversation, drop the ball and let it go but in the true spirit of “she persisted“ we refused to let it go! the program has been developed, and, as of yesterday, our program is live! 🚀 our hope is that this program makes it’s way across all markets! Hey, I’m Tom 👋 I post on here about work (I know, that’s what LinkedIn is for, right) but nothing about me, and that’s started to feel a bit at odds with what I’m about. Any clients, colleagues and friends will know that I like to properly get to know people; I’d much rather be a friend, than an acquaintance. I thought I’d post something about me, so hopefully I can start some conversations with connections that I haven’t met yet, and don’t know the real me. I live in the Peak District and love the outdoors. It’s always played an important part in my life; camping, hiking, waking the dogs. I’d rather be outside. I used to be a rock climbing instructor. I still climb, but just for fun now. It’s great for mind, body and soul, and has taken me to some phenomenal places around the world. Family and my young daughter are massively important to me. I want to bring her up in a world full of excitement and adventure. Tuesdays are our adventure day. I started Persona.Studio as I wanted to put some heart back into design and digital, and create a culture that people wanted to be part of. I’m really proud of the team we’ve built and the work we produce. I care about sustainability and doing business-for-good. This means being conscious about who we work with and for, minimising our environmental impact, and fostering a caring and supportive culture for our team. I’ve embarked on the journey of getting Persona.Studio B-Corp certified - will try to post more about this process. I’m an empath. I care a lot about people, and how they feel. Sometimes to my detriment. I’m inherently silly. I keep it together for work, mainly. But it’s always there.
