Mirror , mirror on the wall ------------------------------ If you engage volunteers and want to increase the numbers that do volunteer, encourage reflection. Reflection is the process of introspection after a volunteering activity, and it can make a big difference in how much volunteers feel they have gained from the experience . And when they gain they are more likely to share the same and invite others to the same experience . At iVolunteer, we're emphasizing reflection more and more, especially with corporate volunteering. So, if you're looking for ways to boost your volunteer numbers, consider encouraging your volunteers to reflect on their experiences. What it does for them, their assumptions, their beliefs, did it change their perspectives... and use this to track if the the engagement with the community helped influence behaviour over a period of time We're here to help you get started if you need it! #volunteering , #volunteer, #corporatevolunteering , #employeeengagement ,

Today is the start of Volunteers Week. This year will see celebrations because it’s 40 years since the week started. That’s a lot of volunteering hours that have been celebrated! Over the years I’ve written several blogs about communicating with volunteers. I’ll pop a link in the comments. If you’ve only got time for the edited highlights version, here are 5 things I wanted my organisation to know when I was a volunteer: 1. Have a clear conversation at the outset to set out not only what is expected of me, but why. 2. Tailor your communications with me to recognise why I choose to get involved and the role that I play while I’m here. 3. Share the stories of the difference I am part of. 4. Listen to me. 5. Recognise that I’m not available all the time. I’m on a break from any volunteering role at the moment, but I fully intend to get back to it in the future. There are so many benefits to both the individual and the organisation. If you’re a volunteer, what are the things that you enjoy most about it? #VolunteersWeek #volunteering #EffectiveCommunication

Finding the time to volunteer can be hard with the busy lives we lead. But studies have shown how beneficial it can be. Volunteering not only offers support to those who need help, worthwhile causes, and the community but it has great personal benefits too. From finding friends, connecting with the community, giving back, learning new skills, and even finding, or advancing, your career. It can reduce stress, provide a sense of purpose and can help improve your health and happiness. That’s why we give all colleagues two paid volunteer days every year so they can explore their passions and help in #EnhancingTheEveryday, making a positive difference and expanding our vision and values in whatever they do. Realise your potential and choose your next chapter https://lnkd.in/eR5zzyPD #EnhancingTheEveryday #Volunteering #VolunteersWeek2024

Volunteering is often met with mixed reactions. While some celebrate its benefits, others raise questions. Let me clear up some common myths about volunteering. ❌ It is just to boost your resume -Volunteering is about serving a cause, not just personal gain. It can be a deeply rewarding experience that teaches valuable skills and fosters personal growth. ❌They are just trying to make themselves feel good - While volunteering can be fulfilling, it is primarily focused on making a positive impact on the community or environment. ❌ It is not professional work, so it doesn't matter -Volunteers contribute significantly to various organizations, often filling crucial gaps and supporting essential services. Recall ,every helping hand counts. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Michelle Obama once said ,"volunteering is not just about giving back; it's about connecting. It's about realizing that we are all a part of something bigger than ourselves." #Volunteering #Volunteers #CommunityService #SocialImpact #SDGs

Volunteering is a privilege. That's why Groundswell Impact Team strongly encourages companies to offer paid volunteer time off (VTO) policies. I was lucky to share this perspective a few months ago at HR Transform in Las Vegas. This is one of many areas on which our team can consult with your company on best practices in the industry. We'll help you make the case to your CEO, allowing you to build the social impact program your employees deserve. #socialimpact #csr #corporatesocialimpact #employeegiving #employeevolunteering #volunteering #volunteer #employeeengagement #corporatesocialresponsibility

How are you celebrating Volunteers' Week? I am reflecting on how my journey, volunteering for a Citizens Advice Bureau after Law School opened doors to new job opportunities, relocations to lovely parts of the UK, and even meeting the father of my children. Today, I celebrate all volunteers, including the digital champions empowering others with digital skills and confidence. If you have any digital skills, you can play your part in fixing the digital divide. #VolunteersWeek #DigitalSkills #MondayMotivation #digitalchampions #volunteering
