Good read explaining Manta’s business strategy. Using their hybrid electric VTOL/STOL aircraft they will look at short RAM routes. Seems reasonable, thought the limited passengers sizes seem to limit revenue production unless they can create a large number of flights per day. Austrian Airlines is studying the suitability of using hydrogen as an emissions-free energy supply to support regular ground maintenance of Airbus A320 aircraft at Vienna International Airport. Under a pilot program, the carrier has been using a so-called H2Genset hydrogen generator from Austria-based company TEST-FUCHS GmbH “for all regular ground maintenance activities” including cabin cleaning and “easy standard maintenance checks up to A Check” on an A320, the airline explains to Runway Girl Network. https://lnkd.in/eNkRjZvM

This landmark moment in sustainable flight is not only a first in Australian aviation - it marks the first time an airport in the Southern Hemisphere has hosted hydrogen as an aviation fuel! AMSL Aero, which is based at Bankstown Airport, designs and manufactures zero-emission long-range vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The team will be using hydrogen fuel to extend the range of its Vertiia aircraft to 1000km - making it the longest-range passenger capable VTOL aircraft in the world. It’s a vital step towards enabling zero-emission aeromedical, passenger, cargo and firefighting flights – improving the lives of Australians and reducing the cost and carbon footprint of air travel. Very important agreement between Ecojet and ZeroAvia! It's exciting to see that emission-free aviation is starting to become more realistic. People's willingness to pay for hydrogen in aviation is much higher than it is for road transport. #Batteryelectric aircraft and #charginginfrastructure have also been on display in Farnborough.
