From #attendee to impromptu #pitcher at the 3i Africa Summit! The 3i Africa Summit was filled with inspiring moments, but one that stands out is my #unexpected elevator pitch experience. I never anticipated finding myself on the #impromptu pitch stage. But when the opportunity arose for 10 additional pitches, I felt compelled to seize the moment! Honestly, the idea of pitching wasn't on my agenda. Had you told me that morning I'd be delivering an elevator pitch, I would've chuckled at the thought. Regardless, I wanted to tell people about Urubytes, and what better way to do so than on the stage that had everyone's attention? I mustered courage and went to append my name to the elevator pitch list. With no preparation, I leveraged the power of Urubytes to generate a 1-minute pitch on the spot. A quick team huddle to refine the message, and I was ready (well, almost!). Nerves hit hard as I watched others deliver their elevator pitches. Hehe, I can still feel the way my heart was pounding so hard as I anticipated the call of my name. I was even worried that I'll freeze or stumble. To calm myself, I took deep breaths and focused on talking about the value Urubytes brings to businesses. Pitching Urubytes to a room of 200+ people was #exhilarating, and even though it went a bit over a minute, the response was incredible! When the judges and audience were asked if they'd 'invest' in Urubytes, they all said "Yes!" This experience shows that Urubytes isn't merely a data and business intelligence platform; it's also a tool for generating impromptu elevator pitches! 😂😂😂 Jokes aside, I learnt the power of thinking on your feet and the importance of being prepared to pitch your business anytime, anywhere. It also underscores the importance of adaptability and embracing unexpected opportunities. Just had my first business aceleration session with Business Gateway in Moray this morning, and was blown away by the mix of businesses taking part and the questions being asked of those of us taking part. Everything from african food, to ice cream, to play areas, to heating systems to art lessons, and little me with my watersports centre. We are already being challenged to identify growth and diversification opportunities, B2B collaborations and areas of weakness in our current business structures.
