Switch, a must-read book! 📚👀 The elephant and rider analogy is one of the most fascinating concepts in the book. It highlights how our decision-making process is influenced by both our rational and emotional sides. The elephant represents our powerful but sometimes stubborn emotional side, while the rider represents our rational side, which provides direction but lacks the strength to overcome the elephant's resistance alone. The book teaches us that for successful change efforts, both the rider and the elephant need to be aligned and motivated towards the same goal. Simon Sinek explains the golden circle in this book. A circle starting with WHY at its core and continuing with HOW in the next layer and then ending with WHAT. Maybe we can read how Simon explains the circle briefly as: “everything you say and everything you do has to prove what you believe. A WHY is just a belief. HOWs are the actions you take to realize that belief. And WHATs are the results of those actions.” But, to me, the climax comes at the end of the book where Simon talks about himself and how he would start with WHY or let’s say how we should start with WHY in everything we do. So my most important takeaway would be that in whatever I’m doing, I shoukd first ask WHY am I doing it? And I think I should revisit this question from time to time in order not to lose my WHY. #strategy #leadership #strategicthinking #strategicleadership #goldencircle #startwithwhy
