On #WorldDiabetesDay, it's important to remember: - more than 400 million people live with diabetes around the world - 1 in 10 people will have diabetes by 2035 - people with diabetes are more likely to develop heart and circulatory problems NHS DigiTrials is supporting the ASCEND PLUS randomised control trial, to recruit 20,000 people aged 55 years and older, who have type 2 diabetes and have not previously suffered a heart attack or stroke, to take part in a national clinical trial across England. The data-driven recruitment has reduced the time to sign people up from six years to just two. And by enabling 20,000 participants to engage from home, ASCEND PLUS is accelerating preventative treatments to protect over 400 million people globally living with type 2 diabetes. Today is #WorldKidneyDay, and we join patients, physicians, and countless others in raising awareness for the need to provide equitable access to appropriate treatment and care for people living with kidney disease. #Calciphylaxis is a #RareDisease with significant mortality and morbidity. It is a severe complication of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) associated with PPi deficiency. We are dedicated to advancing INZ-701 as the first potential treatment for calciphylaxis in our Phase 1 SEAPORT-1 trial. A therapy for this devastating disease would be another step toward ensuring #KidneyHealthforAll. #ShowYourKidneys #WorldKidneyMonth

Kidney disease and its comorbidities disproportionately affect older persons. Kidney disease modifying therapy is underutilized in older adults, as guidelines lack consensus on approaching diagnosis and treatment in older adults. This review aims to highlight the challenges presented by, and opportunities for, identifying and treating CKD in older adults. #primarycare #nursepractitioners 360care.com LEARN MORE: https://lnkd.in/gaGGyfbK

The United States is experiencing a rapid increase in congenital syphilis, with associated fetal death, infant death, and morbidity. Congenital syphilis also disproportionately affects minority and under-resourced populations. It is estimated that more than 3,700 babies were born with syphilis in 2022, which is more than 10 times the number in 2012. Gaps in the healthcare system are contributing to these adverse outcomes. Implementation of CDC testing and treatment guidelines could reduce the adverse outcomes associated with congenital syphilis. Read more about this contagious disease in our latest blog https://lnkd.in/gJyQ3ktw. Children with Congenital Heart Disease Children with congenital heart disease (CHD) in third world countries are particularly vulnerable. CHD is a group of defects in the heart's structure that are present from birth. These conditions can be life-threatening if not properly treated. However, the right to life for these children is often compromised due to: Limited Access to Healthcare: Many third world countries lack the medical facilities, specialists, and resources necessary to diagnose and treat congenital heart disease effectively. Financial Constraints: Even when treatment is available, the costs can be prohibitive for many families. Without financial aid or government support, many children do not receive the life-saving surgeries they need. Lack of Awareness: In some regions, there is a lack of awareness about congenital heart disease, which leads to delayed diagnoses and treatment. Political and Social Instability: In areas affected by conflict or political unrest, healthcare systems are often disrupted, making it even harder for children with CHD to receive care. #takeaction
