Confession time, hands up 🙋🏼♀️ who has been guilty of using the “spray and pray” method at some point in your fundraising career? It’s the topic of our latest YouTube video (https://lnkd.in/evjfvxSM ). Of course, when we’re: 🌱 starting out 🌱 short of time or under pressure 🌱 low on energy/demoralised we can be tempted to simply opt for a scattergun approach when applying for grants and hope that something comes of one of our applications. ✨Reality check ✨ This approach doesn't benefit anyone in our industry and yields less success than a more targeted method. It: ⚪️ wastes your time in submitting applications ⚪️ wastes the grant makers' time in making rejections ⚪️ impacts your reputation ⚪️ wastes money in the grant system that could be put to better use for charities. So how can we hit the sweet spot of being efficient with our time and yet still being targeted with our approach? Let’s open up the floor and help each other- share your top tips for quick but efficient targeting in the comments. 👇🏻

"When the wind blows there are those that build walls and then there are those that build windmills." These are difficult times. For everyone. In a way that makes us seek the security of walls. Personal and physical. And while most turn to government for solutions and resources, the reality is that the private and social enterprise sector (charities, not for profits and other NGO's) and their effective collaboration, are critical to addressing some of our most vexing challenges. When the human and financial capital (corporate philanthropy and volunteerism) of the private sector is thoughtfully coupled with the passion and dedication of our not for profit organizations and the heroes that work within them, incredible things can happen. And we desperately need those things to happen today. One such example, one that I'm privileged to be a part of, is the recently announced partnership of the Alinea Land Corporation and the YMCA of Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford. The Alinea charitable giving initiative, resourced through its $50,000,000 pledge to the Hamilton Community Foundation - Ontario, Canada, has now partnered with the YMCA through a matching program to be announced shortly, aimed at encouraging other businesses and philanthropically minded contributors to support the Y Saves Lives Campaign. As further explained in the announcement attached. The YMCA, under its new leader, Manny (Manuel) Figueiredo, is embarking on a long term transformational campaign of support for our most marginalized. Particularly children. An objective that Alinea, as the region's largest land developer, is determined to support through its capital and its network. As am I. Those in the City Of Hamilton, City of Burlington and the City of Brantford will be hearing and seeing a great deal more about this campaign in the coming weeks and months. We are all so busy. And often overwhelmed by responsibility and obligation in our jobs and to our families. But for those who can - please do what you can to help those who help others - who dedicate their lives to helping the marginalized - like the men and women of the YMCA. Almost all of us in these communities have been touched by the programming of the YMCA - an organization that demonstrates the importance of building windmills - and not walls - every day. An organization that brings people together - rather than tearing them down or apart. I'm so thankful for their service in our community. And for the generosity of Paul Paletta, Michael Paletta and Alinea Land Corporation in agreeing to match donations through this program. Please find out how you can help. 💗 #YSavesLives https://lnkd.in/gCcGVfhB
