Mass-participation running events are open to everyone, but not always accessible to everyone. A One Poll survey* found a third of disabled people felt that sporting events were not set up to cater to them. Four in ten did not feel confident enough to take part. We are determined to change that! 🙏 A Great Day 👌 Over the weekend we had our annual in-house summer competition, which was a roaring success. It was amazing to see so many hard working clients participate and all our encouraging supporters shouting them on while the sun burst through our doors. There will be more to come on this but what was great to see was today really hit our 3Cs Community - Building a strong community is really important to us. Creating a space that brings like minded people where you can encourage others and be encouraged. Connection - creating opportunities for like minded people to get to know each other more than just a first name bases. Events like today get you to hang around long enough to have lots of great chats and laugh about what you are doing together. People always leaving knowing a couple of more people better. Competition - creating an environment where you challenge yourself to push that bit harder than a normal training session. Intentionally building a framework where you can test your fitness against yourself and others. It’s always motivating afterwards to push on your training. Well done too all the team @eamon_cullen_ @trishaor_ @karenpeacockxo and @rebecca_osr who ran a tight ship. Everyone else who helped, participated and showed up to shout people on I applaud you. As the second official Annual General Meeting of the Cleves Sport Group approaches, we can't help but reflect on the whirlwind journey which has brought us to this point. What started as a simple idea - to get some washed up athletes back together to scratch that competitive itch - has grown into a fully-fledged community. Cleves now spans multiple sports across myriad leagues, but what continues to define us (and unite us) are our core values: Community, Leadership, Energy, Veracity, and Empathy. CLEVE. Undoubtedly, there have been bumps along the way; and undoubtedly there will be several more to come. However, when we look out and see the collection of incredible individuals who now proudly call themselves Cleves, we are more confident than ever that our organization will continue going from strength to strength. We may have gotten the ball rolling, but the idea of Cleves has taken hold, and it is now a self-sustaining enterprise. And we could not be more proud.
