Why are there gravel around transformers 🤔?! Gravel is used around electrical transformers for several reasons related to safety and efficiency: 1. Electrical insulation: Gravel does not conduct electricity, which reduces the risk of electrical conduction in the event of a current leak or equipment damage. 2. Moisture reduction: Gravel helps drain water and prevent moisture from accumulating around transformers, which protects electrical equipment from damage caused by moisture. 3. Preventing weeds and plants: The presence of gravel limits the growth of weeds and plants that may affect the safety of transformers "plants may cause fires" or hinder maintenance operations. 4. Heat absorption: Gravel absorbs the heat generated by transformers and helps maintain a stable temperature around the equipment. 5. Providing stability: Gravel provides a flat and stable surface for installing transformers and protecting them from corrosion due to environmental factors. 6. Tata Steel commissions India’s largest blast furnace. Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant in Odisha has successfully commissioned India’s largest blast furnace. The 5,870 cubic metre blast furnace has four combustion chambers and two preheating chambers to optimise fuel consumption. According to Tata Steel, the technology used extends the life of the furnace and reduces the environmental impact. The project is part of the Rs 270 billion ($3.2 billion) Phase II of the plant. The programme aims to increase the plant’s capacity from 3 million to 8 million tonnes per annum. The company says the new blast furnace will enable it to increase its production capacity to meet growing demand from the automotive, power, marine, defence and construction industries. For the first time in its history, Tata Steel has equipped its blast furnace with a dry gas cleaning system to partially offset energy costs by using associated gas. But now the Kalinganagar plant has the world's largest Topside Recovery Turbine (TRT) with a capacity of 35 MW, which compensates for up to 10% of the energy lost. The current phase of the plant's development also includes the launch of a new pellet plant, coke oven battery and cold rolling mills. Tata Steel is also taking proactive steps to reduce its carbon footprint by improving the efficiency of its process management. https://lnkd.in/e2t_UrqF

The Right of Consumer Rules 2023 mandates the implementation of Time of Day Tariff starting from April 2024 for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) consumers, and from April 2025 for other consumers, excluding those in the Agriculture sector. Although the necessary smart meters have not yet been rolled out, an analysis has been conducted based on consumption estimates for various consumer categories across three distribution companies (DISCOMs) in Maharashtra: Tata Power, Adani, and MSEDCL.
