This week researchers at the University of Southern California and Stanford University launched the Segregation Explorer, an interactive website providing data on segregation trends and patterns across the United States. With the interactive map, you can visualize racial and economic school segregation in U.S. states, counties, metropolitan areas, and school districts from 1991 to 2022. A powerful data visualization tool, the Segregation Explorer can help us understand the impact of structural racism on residential and school segregation. With this understanding and data, we can work to ensure all our children have equal educational opportunities that allow them to thrive.
