In August, the US Surgeon General highlighted the urgent need to better support parents, and I would add, especially working moms, whose mental and emotional well-being is at risk. Juggling endless responsibilities—career, family, and personal needs—often comes at the cost of their health The pressure to 'do it all' without compromising on career, family, or personal well-being creates chronic stress, guilt, and burnout, which over time can negatively affect both mental and physical health. Chronic stress can lead to fatigue, anxiety, and even long-term health issues. One powerful way to combat stress is by allowing for recovery time—time to slow down, reduce stress hormones, and refill your own cup. It's time we recognize that no one can pour from an empty cup. In today’s health-care landscape, addressing physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual wellbeing has never been more crucial. At the FLA OHT, we believe trauma-informed care, which recognizes the widespread effects of trauma and integrates this understanding into clinical practice, is key to compassionate and effective health care. We are taking steps towards integrating trauma-informed care into health care in our region in order to help promote equitable health and wellness and create a more inclusive, empathetic and supportive health-care environment. What is Confidence to you? We all know what it is on paper but what it means to each of us can be very different Tomorrow, Sophie and I are speaking as part of "Wellbeing Wednesday" for our local NHS trust and we'll be talking all things confidence. Confidence to me is a muscle. It is something we all have and just like a muscle it needs to be exercised and stretched to ensure it doesn't fade away or seize up.
